angel a1 software update question

With angel going down is there a way I can still update to 2.7 from 2.2? I just got one so I'm a little new to the a1 but not necessarily angels. Thanks for any help.

The software update package can still be found here: http://www.angelowners.com/showthrea...082#post646082

Make sure to follow the instructions to the letter. You will first install the driver, then the flash software, then you can update the board. Make sure you are using a fresh battery during flashing as it draws a lot of power, and a failed battery can cause the flash to screw up.

2.6/2.7 is the latest software revision and offers a few improvements over previous versions.

What exactly is the problem you're experiencing with the software? You can try running it in compatibility mode or under XP mode if you have 7 Professional.

I have not shot the gun yet as I just got it today. PO said it would flake out after shooting a few balls. I have to get another bolt as the original is MIA. I understand running under XP mode BUT, when trying to install drivers, windows installs some BS and I can not load the one needed as it says the one installed is a newer version but it is not associated with A1 .

I got this gun AND an Invert Mini in trade for a small portable Miller welder I got for about $200!!

Not bad for basically $100

Nice pick up Vdubs.

I'm on 2.2 as well. I was planning on doing the update this weekend. Does 2.6 (or 2.2 for that matter) allow for 12.5bps?

You can try uninstalling the existing driver and then manually install the new one when the "found new hardware" dialog pops up.

XP Mode is actually a standalone XP install in a virtual machine, so it's exactly like having an XP based computer on hand, but it's only available on Win 7 Pro. If you have an old XP install disc laying around, you can accomplish the same thing by using VirtualBox to set up a virtual machine yourself and installing XP to it.

Yes. You should be able to go down to 12.5 with the 2.2 software too though. I think the MROF is adjustable from 10 to unlimited.

How do you surpass the cap of 15bps with a stock board??

The 15 bps cap only applies to some of the preset modes. In custom mode you can set whatever parameters you want.

So what are the benefits of upgrading from 2.2 to 2.7?

Bug fixes, an additional custom mode, and a change in eye delay mode.

Might be worth seeing if you can do it at a local library or internet cafe - a lot of them are still on XP. If you really need it done and can't get it figured out locally, I might be able to flash it for you if you want to send it out.

Is there a basic all around setting for all of the parameters? I am sure the PO messed with it and screwed some things up. This gun has a total of 693 balls shot through it according to the info counter...

Dwell 6.0 ms, ramping parameters to the rules you play, everything else is pretty much gun-specific.

Your dwell could drop to 6.0. Debounce could probably go to 5. Paint type, depends on your paint type. Paint type is really just an eye delay setting. Fragile is the most conservative setting = longest delay, medium shorter, hard shortest. ABS should be fine. Most of those settings though, like I said, are gun specific, so don't be afraid to experiment with them.
