I saw you walking around the staging area with that marker. How heavy is that one? That was amazing looking in person.

At ION, the only authentic uniforms that elicited attention were the two men in full Nazi officers' uniforms. I will never make a Nazi uniform. EVER.

I had no instances at ION with people shooting me from my own team. Rather, I had other Allied players rallying behind me and following me into charges.Sounds like D-Day has issues with loyalty if something like that which you described would occur there. Shooting a teammate seems like poor strategy no matter how I look at it, regardless of perspective.

That being said, I have read about the Oklahoma D-Day and, while it sounds incredibly cool, it's not an event I'll attend unless I walk into a small fortune as it sounds well out of my price range and too far for me to travel, not to mention the whole trying to talk my job into giving me a full week off to boot. ION is but 4 hours away and, since it is only a day and a half in length, far cheaper on my wallet.

I play paintball for the fun of the game and while it may seem like a costume or a stab for attention, my Cap suit is, honestly, simply my paintball uniform. I have worn it since I first began playing, initially as a lark, but it grew to where if I show up at my local fields without it, they don't even recognize me at first. It also helps easily identify me in our woodsball fields at the field I work for, as I am usually reffing for the youngsters who frequent our fields.

I have nothing but respect for the people who painstakingly recreate their uniforms to be authentic to the period but that approach isn't creative enough for my tastes. I enjoy actually making/fabricating the pieces of my uniforms/costumes rather than simply hunting down and buying the elements needed. I guess that's all a matter of personal taste in the end, though. I AM, however, looking to make a WW2 based Cap costume in the future utilizing period authentic gear where possible. Something similar to this, perhaps:

Sir I applaud your dedication to our sport. It is great that you are out there inspiring and leading players.

I love your vintage costume idea, I also take great pride in not only the custom guns I create, but also in putting my uniforms together for each event I play in.

Keep up the good work.

I love the Captain America costume.
Dorsai has a good point, and I tend to agree - scenario costumes shoulf have some relevance to the game in question.... But the character of Captain America WAS originally created in the WWII era as a patriotic symbol who fought nazis. So if you HAVE to dress as a super hero for a WWII themed game, Cap A is certainly as close to appropriate as you can get.
Good job...

Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941), from Marvel Comics' 1940s predecessor, Timely Comics, on sale in December 1940, a year before the bombing of Pearl Harbor but a full year into World War II, showed the protagonist punching Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in the jaw — sold nearly one million copies.

An intentionally patriotic creation who was often depicted fighting the Axis powers of World War II, Captain America was Timely Comics' most popular character during World War II.

Writer Joe Simon conceived the idea for Captain America, which was refined by his partner, artist Jack Kirby, in 1941. Captain America was a consciously political creation. Simon and Kirby were morally repulsed by the actions of Nazi Germany in the years leading up to the United States' involvement in World War II and felt war was inevitable. Simon later said, "The opponents to the war were all quite well organized. We wanted to have our say too."

Circulation figures remained close to a million copies per month after the debut issue, which outstripped even the circulation of news magazines like Time during the period. (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_America )

So, yeah, I'd say Captain America is completely relevant to ANY WWII themed scenario. He was propoganda at its finest and was an extremely popular character during the time. A million copies was a huge feat in the 40s.

Speaking of Captain America and other superheros...
Here's pics from Albany Scenarios Club's Return to Infinity game based on a marvel series.

These first two are me as Surtur the fire demon (armored up because I'm almost invincible):

Here's our Captain America, XO of one team, yes the shield was in play:

XO of the other team, Morg the Merciless:

Drax the Destroyer played by the infamous Scooch (check out the Scooch list in scenario talk):

And of course, Superjew (I don't remember that comic book):

Maybe over there it's cool to dickup someones game because their style of play, or maybe just because they arn't saluting pretend officers. My suggestion is to come on up here to the NE sometime and learn how to actually play paintball. Didn't you just lose the last D-day if I remember correctly? Shooting your own team because you suck at paintball is a horriblle choice.

Captain America dude: Keep doing it man and make it your own thing. I've been doing this gettup as my "jersey" or whatever since 99 when I first started playing scenario,

1999

and this year at CPX living legends 2 (simon is right next to me, he's a super hero, everyone tell him that)

Here's me from castle conquest. I wore it just because someone gave it to me, I figured why not. I'm sure it got a few laughs. I didn't get shot in the hat, which was surprising, I may wear the hat whenever I play until I do (maybe it's lucky). The costume also survived no problem, so I can wear it whenever. (revolutionary or pirate scenario anyone?)
