NY Capital District/ Albany area

Hey everyone, I'm looking to get back into paintball after a 10 year hiatus. I recently moved to the Albany NY area and am wondering if there is a sizable paintball community in this area? Are there any good fields up here (I've heard of APE, but can't seem to find much on them)?.

It seems like a lot has changed in the past decade!

Thanks!

well, you've got A.P.E. (Albany Paintball Experience) in Nassau, NY off Rt. 20 that does paintball every other weekend.

And you've got CCZ (Capital Combat Zone) in Troy, NY at 100 Farrell Rd. that holds paintball open play must every weekend.
http://capitalcombatzone.com/

Check them out on Facebook if you have an account and from there, they will normally keep you updated as to open play and scenario play.
Both places offer something a little different, woodsball, speedball, open field full of buildings and stuff.

CCZ in Troy, NY also holds speedball tournaments events throughout the year.

There is also Coopers Cave up in Glens falls on Rt. 9 (store) and the field is located 3960 Route 4, Kingsbury, NY.

So you've got a few places in the area all within about an hour of Albany, NY.

All places have a great friendly environment and the 518 area has some great players and many different teams.

CamoFish, thank you for the detailed response! Do any of the fields have proshops? I can't seem to find any in the area. Thanks!

Another small place to play is Lash's paintball in Fort Johnson, NY, out near gloversville.

As far as a pro shop, hummm?
I think lash's may have a small pro shop.

Cooper's cave might be able to help at the store up in Glens falls.

But, if you go to CCZ in troy, get to talking with the regulars around there and they might be able to personally help you out.

What you looking to have done?

If you are looking for a place to buy product, check out Tri-city extreme. They are normally at CCZ every weekend, plus they have a website and Mike the owner is an awesome guy.

If you need tech work, go to CCZ and if it's a mechanical, search out "Peaches". Plus, there should be someone there that might be able to help with an electro-marker, too.

If you are looking to get into some regular games and maybe a team, we might be able to help you out with that too.

Welcome to the area. I was in your shoes a few years ago, and I've since rejoined the paintball world up here in Albany as soon as I moved up here. CamoFish gave you all solid info. CCZ is the place for speedball if that's what you're looking for, but they also have a big group of rec players every weekend, and do scenario games every so often. A.P.E. is a better field for scenarios, in my opinion.

You may also want to check out the several Facebook pages for 518 Paintball:
