NEXL vs. FoXball

I want to hear your opinions on the two leagues. My team is looking into both leagues and want to hear your pros and cons for each to help our decision. Thank you! Post up.

Well my team decided on Foxball.
NEXL D2-D4 : $1,250 (I believe)
Foxball Majors-Minors : $1,750

NEXL adds to your APPA, Foxball does not.
Foxball is $40 a case, NEXL is $40-50
Prizes are about the same for D4 (assuming you're D4)
Foxball starts with 20mintues, NEXL starts with 12 minutes (I think and for D4)
NEXL you play 3 matches per event, Foxball you play 2.
Foxball uses their own layouts as well throughout the season.

We chose Foxball next year becuase we like the field a lot better and we think it is ran more smoothly. I know with the Foxball season fee you get 12 jerseys, I think you can with NEXL but it may be more money to add. But we aren't in it for the jerseys.

The Finest had a few facts incorrect.
foXball paint is $50 and is a 4-star paint
foXball is 2 15 minute halves with unlimited points scored (meaning not a Race-To format)
foXball uses both custom layouts and PSP layouts depending upon timing of events and layout releases. We've used mostly PSP layouts this season
foXball is a season - meaning each "event" does not have an overall winner - you play the regular season (8 matches - 2 per event) and then the top teams make the playoffs which is a 1 day event.
foXball has 2 divisions:
Majors - Open division, anyone can play (including pros)
Minors - D3 and lower
foXball schedule is released at the beginning of the season for the full year.

Both are very good leagues. I personally like foxball for a few reasons.
-Compeitition. I believe the best players in New England play in the Open division at foxball. There are a lot of good teams and players that are ranked too high to play NEXL's so if you are looking for the best around, foxball is your best bet.
-Well Run. I think Dave does a very good job running the score board and keeping the matches moving smoothly. The format runs like a PSP event where each match starts at a certain time. This allows teams to either show up early or leave early depending on the schedule of the event.
-Reffing. I am not just saying this because I am a ref, but I'd like to think it is pretty consistent. 187 crew has played a ton of paintball, and we may have reffed more (Dave will have to verify), so we know the calls and the game well (this applies to majors division).

When you consider that the NEXL requires you to have matching, league approved jerseys the initial costs of entry is probably the same.

Yes, its important to note that the Foxball Entry INCLUDES 12 team jerseys.

* Foxball does NOT require each player to get a $30 ID badge.

* Foxball releases Stat sheets for each match, which allows you to track point for point activity, points played by each player, penalties, total points played in a match, Win loss ratio, . About the only thing they dont track is Kills.

*Scheduling is on point at the start of the season. In March, You know exactly what time your Event 5 matches are in September.

* Always a rotation on the actual layout 1-2 weeks prior to every event. (Although I believe NEXL is pretty good about that too)

No... they DONT rank APPA, but being true Xball, as I understand it, APPA rankin systems would rank you up faster than is realistic. I know too many players are too concerned about their Rankings, but lets face it... Being ranked D3, and being a D3 caliber player are two different things

So, I have played in both leagues the last 2 years, including this season. The short answer for me is Foxball. I know that NEXL is a very popular league, but for me, they exhibit the same difficulties event after event. I have played 9 NEXL events and it really has not improved. I have played 12 Foxball events in the last 3 years and I can honestly say that it is the most enjoyable league I have played. Either way, you are going to spend a lot of money, you are going to want to get what you pay for. Foxball will give a lot of value for your money. Again this is my opinion.

My team is playing nexl this year and it's been a blast so far. besides alittle home team advantage (expected) the reffing is good and it's ran smoothly and professionally. The jerseys are rather cheap for most teams because they allow a sponsorship contingency with either empire or eclipse for jersey packages. Also the competition is solid in each division and a lot of the teams that play also play psp events. There are 3 divisions d2 d3 and d4 10 teams in each division I think. I really like the feilds as well the turf is good turf not that hard carpet like garbage. Overall I've been happy with the nexl this season but cannot speak for foxball.

Your statement insinuates that being a Home field team, the refs may be playing favorites??
