I wanted to again give a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to all those who have already donated. I know times may be tough for many of us, and a monetary donation isn't always something that can be done. We would appreciate your prayers for both Benjamin Yohn and his wife Angela. A few of the team members are going to visit him again in the hospital again today.
For those that don't know Ben's story: Ben was feeling a bit under the weather two weeks ago (January 21st/22nd) , and it started to nag at him. He was feeling tired and sore, as if the flu had gotten into him. He also had aching shoulder and a pain in his chest which originally he attributed to the flu and something possible upper respiratory. He also thought maybe he had developed a hiatal hernia. He went to Urgent Care. They told him he might have suffered a heart attack. He then went into the hospital emergency room. They also believed a heart attack at first. He was then transferred to Jefferson University Hospital which is where he is now.
YET No Heart attack was found. He was in for test to see why his heart was having issues. On Tuesday, his heart gave out, and he was put into a medically induced coma and oxygenator. The doctors have determined a virus attacked the heart and as his body sought to destroy the virus it further damaged his heart.
A friend of the family has set up a GOFUNDME Page. This is going to be a long fight. In the end Ben will most likely need a heart transplant. However, since his blood type is the most common, the wait list may very well be months (or years). Doctors are waiting to see if they can surgically implant a device to help his heart. They have two choices. In choice 1- LVAD, Ben could return home. If choice 2 must be made, the BIVAD will be implanted and Ben must remain in the hospital indefinitely.
Please pray for our brother, Ben.
