I just try to get off the good shots and key "openings" or "lanes"
Blind shots are fun too.

you have to judge how fast and at what direction the player is running. I always think a that fewer shoots are better because it gives you time to adjust between shots. I think you'll be surprised at how much more effective only putting out 1-2 well placed shots off the break instead of 10.
That said, there are some shooters that can place 10 shots exactly were they need to be, but despite all that shooting, they'll still only land one ball.

Lane about 10 shots to the leading edge of the bunker you think they are going to run to. If you can take one out on the break by being "Lucky" you are one body up on them on the break and it makes your odds a little better. After the break laning is pretty much useless and you revert back to taking your one shot at a time.

If you play with it enough you can get a good rythem and shoot fairly fast and consistant even without an at.

It's going to be a big change for me when I play with my pump for the first time this week because I've never played pump before, and I play back. I'm used to dropping a hopper off the break so it should be nice to just run.

Laning with a pump is harder but feasible. Timing and location vs. sheer volume is the great change. With a semi, a lot of the time, you can throw paint at a lane area and nab someone. With pump, lane to a specific location that they will spend time in...the entrance or other side of the bunker they will be sliding into, things like that.

It won't be too hard to acquire the skill. Just practice. A lot. Meaning: play, a lot. With "tournament" people that you know to be of good repute.

best way to lane is to understand how the field is set up. I played in an osc a few events ago and the way the field was set up, it was a long run to the primaries. i was able to lane a guy off the break in all but 2 games.
Lots of times people run in a straight line to their bunkers which usually gives you a bigger window for them to be open. Better players will see where they'll be laned from and take a path that will leave them least exposed for the least amount of time. You can still lane people who do this but its a gamble as they may not be going to the bunker you expect them to and in limited paint games its an even bigger gamble.

I can shoot as fast without an autotrigger as most people can with one. It's all about your timing. If I slow it down a little, to say 2-3 bps, I can actually put all of my shots onto a pretty small target. Practice, practice, practice....

Say you have a Pyre, (IMO) one of the best Open-class guns. You can shoot fast, same with the S6. But what's the point of buying a high quality, >$500 pump gun just to shoot it like you would a $50 Spyder with an upgraded barrel. Aside from how it feels, there won't be much of a difference. The only reason to play pump, again IMO, is to choose your shots. If you A/T it all the time, not only is it a waste of paint, it's a waste of at least $400 on a marker. Like I said, other people might have different opinions, this is just mine.

Auto-triggering is good for bunkering though, to get 2 good shots off quickly, you know?

Yeah, that is a good benefit. I'm not bashing Auto Triggers, I'm bashing auto-trigger hounds.

meh, i use what i have.
if im rolling an ATed gun with a revvy, im gonna AT the place up.
if im rolling stock class, then thats how it goes down.
if you dont use they extra technology you bring on the field - then why bring it at all? quickly the extra weight and profile of that hopper turns from an advantage to a disadvantage if you swear off AT and rapid fire. otherwise, if i dont want to use AT, i bring a gun without AT.

Who says anything about A/Ting with a Hopper? Most Stock class feeds have a ball above the breech and in the breech, making for two shotsfor pumpkering.
