cron job for routine tasks? Sure. For working on a large database that a company depends on? At best, I'd make an interactive script to do it... last thing I want is something to go haywire and take down the site for longer than it has to because I wanted to cut corners so I could sleep.

it was just a suggestion but as i said in another post under the admin section, there seems to be alot of downtime recently and downtime stinks.

i believe it was matt that pointed me to this thread which is very helpful keeping up on any issues that arise

I'm not sure where you are getting this "there's a lot of downtime lately" thing from. I only have one or two very brief periods in memory from the past couple months.

Scheduled maintenance != outage. I appreciate your concern, but we have things under control.

i can remember in the past week, that the forum was down on my end for several hours last week. i drive over an hour one way to work, and it was down for the last hour of my shift, and it still wasnt back online by the time i got home.

thats why i was concerned. thats all
