Fighting a Window Tint Ticket??

Okay so about ten days ago I got pulled over for having an expired inspection sticker and at the last minute the cop decides to give me a ticket on my window tint being too dark. This really aggravated me because I bought the car only 9 months before hand and it already had the tint on it. And of course I had no idea I was riding around with an illegal window tint. It is not like I can just look at my car and say "Oh wow, that tint is illegal. I can tell just by looking at it."

Well long story short I passed inspection and removed my window tint. I know I can get my ticket dismissed for my expired inspection sticker but my question is... is fighting the window tint ticket worth it?? Do I have a chance at getting that ticket dismissed considering:

1). I had no idea and the car tint was illegal
2). The car had apparently passed inspection before with the tint on.
And
3). I removed the tint anyways

?????

go to court with the intentions of getting the ticket reduced.. the judge will more than likely just drop it completely.

If it was removed you should be able to get it dropped.

When you passed inspection did you already have the tint off or did they pass it and you removed it anyway?

They told me to remove the tint before the inspection so I did and I passed.

I was told to take pictures of the windows without the tint to show to a judge to get it dropped.

Is that going to be needed??

ditto on the tint ticket being a fix-it. My dad just got one for a truck he brought up from Florida.

However, don't be so quick to think they will simply dismiss the inspection just because you got it inspected soon after. It's really up to the judge, I recently got a ticket even though I had a 10 day extension certificate, just because I didn't have the white temp paper in my window that they give you when you newly register a car. The cop didn't know that they don't give those things out for regular 10-day extensions, so he wrote me a ticket. The law was on my side the whole way, but neither the cop or the judge had a clue as to the law.

It was eventually dismissed, but I had to present a strong case and even after I basically showed in court that the cop didn't know what he was talking about (I was like, listen if you contact the DMV and can find a single person that supports your position, then I will accept the ticket. But you won't, because I checked and I have letters from multiple inspection stations around town stating they give only the print-out and not a white 10-day sticker), after all that the judge still didn't dismiss my ticket immediately and the cop still stated that he thought he was right. She said she would take it all "under advisement" and mail out her ruling. She never did, but I called the courthouse a few months later and found out the charges were dismissed.

But anyways, the point is, don't be so quick to assume the inspection ticket will be dropped. Even if you immediately drove to a garage and had it inspected, you were still driving an uninspected vehicle at the time the ticket was issued.

Why damn cops? It's not his fault you were not obeying the law, whether you knew it or not.

Well the guy at firestone told me that I will be able to get the ticket dismissed with proof of this "Pass Inspection" paper he gave me. He said it will only be like $10 instead of $200.

It depends on the judge. You had expired inspection, not failed inspection.
