balls breaking in my pods

For some unknown reason paintballs seems to break pretty often in my pods. I was told to fill it as close to full as possible so the balls wont bounce up and down when i run, but that doesnt seem to help too much. Does anyone know what i should do to stop this from happening?

The paint occasionally breaks in my hopper too.. but i can't imagine too much things i can do about that.....

you need to pack it tighter......put the paint in until its up to the top, hold your hand over the top and gentlely shake the pod, this will allow the balls to settle, then add however many you need to fill it, close and shake test to see if any are loose.

lather
rinse
repeat

Is it a new case of paint? If it is, it's possible that they might not have been made right.

thank you trauma alert. I'll try that next time that i play.

Yes, its new paint. It doesnt happen to my friend but it does to me even though we share paint. We usually buy a box and we each shoot two bags. I really can't tell if they're bleeding or cut, i just know that usually the whole pod is filled with paint, evenly distributed throughout the whole thing... kinda weird how it works.

But then my friend doesnt dive/slide at all unlike me, so... yeah...

Yeah, fill the pod, shake it a little to settle the balls, and add a couple more on top. you should be very slightly squeezing the balls as you close the lid. Shake the pod after to make sure there is no rattling.

dont pack it too tight. if you do your paintballs might come out all misshapen. you want them to be able to move SOME.

so.. where do you draw the fine line as to "too tight" and "no rattling" ?

i let them rattle some. you should be able to hear them alittle when you shake the pod, but they shouldnt be rolling back and forth or anything.

what kind of pods are you using? some are flimsy and if you should sort of land on one while sliding it could break the paint inside.

one more thing instead of just shaking gently tap it on a hard surface (table) this will let them slide into place and make room for more on top

im gonna disagree you dont want to hear them move. If you can hear them that means they are moving and that gives them a chance to break and if u fill the pods to the max so u gotta squeeze a little to close the lid they are not gonna lose there shape from the time u feel them to the time u go and shoot them unless u are storing them for a period of time

Glue some foam to the bottom of your pod and the lid. Then fill, shake, and top off staying level with the top of the pod. The foam will absorb the shock from running.

I had this issue happen to me a few times too. Its not from packing it, its from loading a hopper and still have 40 or so balls left and I just close it and put it back in the harness and then do some wild move and causing the balls to brake. But its understandable because it has plenty of room to fly around and brake.

Some pods come with foam like material on the bottom and bottom of lid for packing pods. I forget the brand though..
