Wow, I'd ask if anyone went to both but I know everyone that did. 12 teams showed up for the first time ever held 5-man(rookie/novice) hosted by KC parks & rec. Only 6 teams showed up for the established Kansas State 5-man (open).......
One event was held on level grass, the other in a freshly bulldozed uneven field. One began almost 25 minutes late, the other started almost 2 HOURS late! The paint at this event was "QUALITY" tourny grade ball, round & fresh, the other event had paint shaped more like a FOOTBALL. Foul language was not allowed at this event, penelty points were assessed if you cussed. At the other cussing seemed to be the accepted language of the day..... was the fleet in??
I could go on but it's easy to see that one event was better run than the other, hell there was even a FOOD vendor at it! I would like to go on record and say that the second event though poorly run had good reffing for the most part. It also has some good people connected with it..... so I don't know what happened.
All I can say is that the guys at DZ running the State 5-man could learn "A LOT" from Chris Cotton & his staff @ KC Parks & Rec. If my team ever has to decide between a DZ event or a KC Parks & Rec event we'll go with KC Parks!!! Well done KC Parks!!!!!!!
