First shot after I air up viking is weak?

When I first air up my viking the initial shot is weak, after that is does fine. If it sits for a long time like between games, the first shot is half powered. Is this a problem with my LPR?

Thanks.

Had this happen to me when I first got my Vike. Give the reg on the front of your marker a few degrees turn clockwise (+) if you don't have a tool kit with a guage and try it again. Your probably below 60 psi. If that doesn't do it, likely your dwell....

A case of first shot drop off (FSDO)? Tell us what board you have and it'll help out plenty, there's settings to help with that if FSDO is the case...

I have the Pandora board, my dwell is at 8 my HPR is at 160 and my LPR is at 80, I have a Humphry solenoid. I am getting 280 FPS with these settings after the initial shot. It only happens for the first shot after I air up the gun, or if I let it sit for about 15 or so minuets between games. I can't hear any leaks, so I thought it was the LPR sticking or something causing the hammer to only strike the valve with a minimal force, but I am not sure.

Thanks for the help so far.

Sounds like FSDO, though I don't know the settings off the top of my head when it comes to Pandora. FSDO happens when you first air up your marker or when you've left it sitting for a while, that's why you see a few people shooting their markers right before the break/start of game (it helps with the issue). What is the FPS on your first shot? I've seen a few markers with terrible FSDO where the ball barely falls out, others were only a few FPS below their settings.

The first shot is about 80 FPS I would estimate.

Put your dwell at the recomended settings..9-10..

I run an 11 dwell to make sure every shot has enough juice.

The factory recommended setting for Humphry solenoids is 8ms. With my dwell at 10-12 I would need to lower the HPR pressure. Considering 280 fps with the HPR at 160 and the dwell at 8, if the dwell was at 10-12 I would need to lower the HPR to like 140 or less.

Someone correct me if this is wrong, I am no genius.

10 is definatly Pandoras base setting. Your LPR is higher than stock too, Stock is 72psi, but if 80 works out that works too.

Sounds like excal settings there...

Vikings usually run around 10ms dwell, 200psi at the HPR and 68-72 for LPR pressure.

Do you have the robtown valve? My gun developed FSDO pretty severely after I put it in. It leaks inaudibly around the shaft in the ram so the first shot barely makes it out of the breach. If I put my old cartridge back in, it loses the FSDO.

I raised the dwell to 10, problem solved. So weird because the pandora manual says "vikes with hump noids should run dwell at 8ms". That is a quote form the manual.

We definatly have different manuals, the one I printed off definatly said 10 for humps 18 for MACs.

Although I printed an rMod manual though, but the dwell should be the same. You might benefit from turning the LPR down to 72. Or try it at 65-70.
