So, I was thinking about it, and I'm not sure whether Satanism qualifies because of two things you said. The first is that you just need to be a part of a religion that uses reason > faith, which I consider Satanism to be part of. But then in another quote you said something about having a deity but using reason rather than faith, and on that point Satanism fails seeing as we have no deity.
Seeing as you're the head of this shindig, if you think Satanism counts than I'm in

I would say Satanism is a gray area. A reason based religion is one that believes the divine must be experienced through reason/empiricism, not faith. Satanism doesn't believe in a divinity, but it follows a philosophy of living based on human reason and rationality. I guess you could join lol.

It is more of a symbol for the lifestyle opposite of Christianity.
Indulgence instead of abstinence, vengeance instead of turning the other cheek, and so on.

At least, from what I understand.

Theres a Satanism thread a few pages back that should answer just about any questions you have. It's called "any satanists here" or something like that. If you still have questions you can ask there or shoot me a PM

how about humanism?

As far as seeing yourself divine in an unselfish way, and experiencing it through life.

I guess since this is the R/P forum, we should extend it to all reason based philosophies, not just religions.

wasn't it plato that posed the theory that it is good for the individual to be immoral but bad to be surrounded by the immoral so therefore it is in fact better for the individual to be good and moral and have the group surrounding him good and moral?

so basically what i get out of this is that the only way satanism works is when you are surrounded by christians that turn the other cheek.

i can kind of understand indulgence as long as no one is taken advantage of but vengeance??? really...

i find the old saying treat your neighbor as you would like to be treated much more conducive to a productive society. but thats just me, and the way i interpret things.

not trying to stir the pot just felt like voicing my opinion.

still unclear about the whole reason based religion. could i perhaps get a real world example of this?

I would consider Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism reason-based, and if so, those are the closest to a "religion" for me other than my jewish heritage, so if you believe so, you can add me to the list.

Sure thing, as long as you use rational thought / empiricism to experience the divine or live through reason, you're welcome.

OT, my first pump game ever will be on Saturday. I cannot wait lol. I hope the stock class harness and 10rd tubes I ordered get here by then lol.

Bah.... I have to fill up 4-6 pages on absolute truth. I was thinking about going over the coherence theory of truth, subjective truth, objective, and finally leading to the fact that absolute truth does exist - here are some examples. Any tips or something you think I should include?

Maybe throw in a little Rand? That'll fulfill the part about objective truth lol.

Very true. That'll help fill some space, and help explain. My teacher, for some reason, always wants the amount of references to outweigh your own work.
