I have capped the private message limit to 200 pms in place of the previous limit of 500. According to the stats, there are 211 thousand pms that users have in their "Sent Items" folder and a total of almost 347 thousand pms in the pbnation database.
To raise a general awareness for writing pms; you may notice several checkboxes in the Options section of the screen, located just below the Message box while composing a new private message or replying to one.
There are two options that are selected by default that you might find you use but don't need to: "Save a copy:" and "Request Read Receipt:" Both are illustrated in the image below:
If "Save a copy" is checked then a copy of the message will be placed in your "Sent Items" folder.
If "Request Read Receipt" is checked then there will be a listing of the pm in your "Message Tracking" area. You can go to your Message Tracking and see if the recipient has read your pm yet or not.
Both the "Sent Items" folder and "Message Tracking" can be found by dropping down the "Jump to folder:" menu, located in the Private Message section of your User CP (profile).
The reason for this announcement is to help reduce the number of pms in the database that aren't needed and to help users better understand how the forum works. There are a large number of users that have well over 200 pms and this is just a friendly reminder on ways to cut down on the amount.
