Lightbulb Tournament Questionaire

There has been some talk of doing a tournament series with 3-4 fields in OKC and Tulsa area. It looks like we may have one maybe two sponsors. What I would like is the answer to a few questions and anything special you would like to see. Please keep it real.

Question #1 How many prelim games do you want to play? Minimum and Max.

Question #2 What would be the maximum number of games you would want to play?

Question #3 Would you prefer a regular ref crew at each event or fields to provide their own refs?

Question #4 Would you rather have bigger event prizes or a larger grand prize?

Question #5 Would you rather pay lower entries and cheaper paint prices for Trophies and a small prize package?

I want the good prizes at each event. I'd say about $150-entry fee, $50-$55case of paint.

Question #1 How many prelim games do you want to play? Minimum and Max.

6-10 for 5 man events
8-12 for 3 man events (if you have them also)

Question #2 What would be the maximum number of games you would want to play?

15-16 for 5 man events
16-18 for 3 man events

Question #3 Would you prefer a regular ref crew at each event or fields to provide their own refs?

Set field crew, so long as price per event doesn't become an issue.

Questions 4 & 5 are kind of opposites of each other...sort of!

Question #4 Would you rather have bigger event prizes or a larger grand prize?

bigger event prizes.

Question #5 Would you rather pay lower entries and cheaper paint prices for Trophies and a small prize package?

Lower entry fees and paint costs would be cool.

min: 8 max:12

max: 15

It all depends if the refs are good and how much bringing a regular ref would increase the entry fees.

Question #4 Would you rather have bigger event prizes or a larger grand prize?
Bigger Event prizes. But a larger grand prize encourages people to play the entire series.

Question #5 Would you rather pay lower entries and cheaper paint prices for Trophies and a small prize package?
no. most teams try to break even or sell the prizes to fund their next tournament, so trophies would not go over well. Trust me, we had a local field do that, and no one plays his tournaments any more....

In no particular order.

The tournaments will be a one day event, itís too big a burden for teams that travel and most field owners donít like losing two days of business, besides two days doubles expenses usually only generates half as much the second day.

If, there is a 5-man division it would probably be open, but as sketchy as some of the local 5-man teams are around here (no offense) I donít know how good a response we could get.

To anevez: A field at each event? It could be done, if youíre willing to pay a hefty entry and be ready to play a lot of games. 2nd & 3rd may not be very much though.

A field as a series prize is more rational. As far as event prizes go, 5-man would probably be a cash back, at least until a minimum number of teams commit to the series.

3-man would have two divisions without national players. They should be past playing 3-man by now. If a 5-man division happens, it will have to pull itís own weight, pay for itís own prizes and itís share of tournament overhead.

Does that sound fair?

One other option: If there is a series prize at the end, to eligible you would have to play all but one of the prelim tournaments. Question is would you rather accumulate points as we go or winner take all in the finals?

Well if you are going to do a series prize at the end than it should be accumulated points. But a good way to do it would be the accumulation of your best X scores (X being 1 less than all the events. 5 events = best 4 scores), that way a team could miss one or bomb one and still have a chance.

well yeah like the midwest does it like minis or other cheaper guns but in the final event a field
or you could do like a $400 entry for a 5 man team and make it a bigger tourney and give away field more people will definatley show up
