I'm not impressed. Deloused, and Frances are still way better.
Though Goliath is a badass song.

This album beats the **** out of Amputechture. I first started listening and was disappointed with Aberinkula and Metatron, but with Ilyena I was like "****kkk."
Good album so far

I haven't passed a final judgment yet on it, but I definitely think its a step back in the right direction, compared to amputechture. Not that amp was terrible, but it is easily their worst release. I love the new sounds mixed with elements from their other releases (like when I listen through I can hear things that remind me of Tremulant, and De-Loused as well as stuff from Omar's solo stuff and De Facto) and its much more controlled than amp, which a lot of it was just an onslaught from 3/4's of the band at the same time.

The Mars Volta put on one of the best shows ive seen last night. Basically every song was just a platform for them to tangent and extend/explore further, all of them were about double the length from the CDs. Omar(guitarist) and Thomas(drummer) and Cedric(singer) had so much energy it was like getting high off the music.
I dont think cant fully understand and appreciate their music until you see them live based off what I saw last night.

i heard a few songs off the new album, i cant wait to get it.
I just got Scabdates, good stuff. Cerpin Taxt and Concertina are amazing on that album. I wish it had Eriatarka, but I guess that would be too much pwnage on one disc.

I enjoy it. My favorite track is "Ourobourus".
I was supposed to see them live in Columbus, which would have been my fourth time seeing them live, but they cancelled it the day before.
