Evacuation of a Major City?
My roomate says you need the Presidents consent to evacuate a major city if the operation costs over "x" ammount of dollars...I think it is ultimately up to the Mayor/Govorner to decide if they can evacuate a city when in danger.

If it's government funded, then they have a say. If the state pays for it, then it goes how the state wants it to go. At least, that's how I interpret the 10th ammendment....or was it the 9th? I always mix the two up..

It's up to local officials to decide whether or not to evacuate, it is up the President/relevant agencies to decide whether or not federal funds/assistance will be provided.

If there would be an emergency in the area dangerous enough to have to evacuate an entire city then im sure a state of emergency would have already been put into effect, giving sole power to that states governor.

If there ever were a giant evac of New York or some place giant like Chicago or LA, I think the state would be ill-equipped to get everyone out in the first place. Funding that effort probably lies with the state, I don't think the gov. has anything to do with it as far as getting out.
Unless of course it was some sort of Federal Emergency for some reason or another...

Well being in Florida we would have to go to Alabama or Georgia if we evacuated. Or some other ****ty state.
But who wants to go there?
So we stay.

if it is a cloverfield style evacuation, im pretty sure you dont need to wait to ask the president before you evacuate.
