I've read Survivor, Fight Club, Choke, Invisible Monsters and at least one or two others.
Fight Club was amazing and I thought the movie really did it justice. One of the few adaptations I have ever thought honestly rivaled the book. I need to go watch that movie again.
Survivor and Invisible Monsters were probably my favorite two books of his.

Survivor was my favorite of his stuff that I've read. I'm dying for someone to adapt it into a movie, and if so I hope Robert Downey Jr. plays the main role.

Rant wasn't as good as I thought it'd be..
Choke, Snuff, and Lullaby are great.

Outdoing in what way? The movie was great but the book was great as well, but I'll admit the movie really brought it to life for me.

Why not? I enjoyed it because it eventually pieced everything together and made me feel dumb for not seeing it coming.

I thought the movie was more entertaining, but only because Jim Uhls did a fantastic job adapting it into a screenplay, and then Fincher made it more dark and gritty then I think Palahniuk even intended for the book. I thought the story told in the movie was a bit more coherently told. The only qualms I have with the movie is that the scene from the book where Tyler turns Marla's mom's fat into soap wasn't put in, and the line, "I want to have your abortion" became "I haven't been ****ed like that since grade school."
Even Palahniuk said the movie was so good he thought no one would even want to read the book.
I'm partway through snuff right now. I have to admit, I thought this would be a minor filler book until Pygmy comes out, but it's not exactly what I had in mind. It's much better.

Snuff was meh.
I'd put it a little above Haunted. The twists didn't surprise me at all. It seemed like you could always tell what was coming.
Spoiler: (Highlight this box to see the hidden message.)
| At the beginning, I was even fairly sure that 72 wasn't the son... because he wouldn't explain that twist so early. Then it wasn't hard to figure out it was Sheila. As usual, there was a lot of fact-filler, maybe even more than usual. It's fun for what it is, but still didn't grab me like Choke did. |

Scarekrow, I totally agree. I knew who it was way too soon. An anomaly for Palahniuk to fall short on his 'buried-gun' turning points. Survivor, Choke, Fight Club, even Haunted and Rant had more surprising moments. (Choke had what I thought to be the best delivered of all his books)
I was hoping the jaw-dropper wasn't going to be who was who, I was hoping it was going to be something else. Something I couldn't see coming. I was wrong.
Snuff is, in my opinion, Palahniuk's weakest book. Good for what it was, but not exceptional in any way. I also thought he went way overboard with the factoids about actor's and pornstars...seems like that's all Cassie talks about.
I hope Pygmy will be better.
I guess my favorite order would go: Survivor, Rant, Invisible Monsters, Choke, Haunted, Fight Club, Diary, Lullaby, Snuff. (excluding Stranger than Fiction and Fugitives and Refugees)
None of his book were 'bad'. I enjoyed reading them all, just some were much better.

I couldn't recommend Survivor enough to anyone. Rant was great too, but it fell apart a bit at the end. Both are awesome. Although I consider Survivor to be his best novel, Rant Casey is his best character.

Alright, I just finish Rant, and can someone tell me if all the ends were tied up, because I may have missed it, but I don't think they were.
Also, I am starting diary tonight.
