So I'm new to the sport and just got my first marker a '07 nxt shocker. I'm now ready to get out there and play. But I don't know where / when to grab some pick up games. Also are there any teams out there where most of the members are 21+?

in the winter your choices are very limited on where you can play. basically aap and splatball. i would recommend splatball for someone who is knew because most players there are new to the sport as well. but it isn't a great place to play. (imo)

during the summer your options are a little broader. mn pro, i hear, is a good place to play. scp has a decent field with good players. for the most part fridays and sundays are the days to play.and as for you last question, idk.

Specter Paintball is mainly 21+ [if 9 of 11 isn't bad]

Check out the sister team Rising Flames try-out thread...

We'll be out at Splatball in Minneapolis this Sunday.

imo in the winter the best place to play is aap. its expensive, and the players arent new, but youll learn quick.

in the summer, nss is the place to go. great people, cheap prices. kinda dirty, but still a great time....

Fields here are at two very different ends to the line -

Splatball is a bit less expensive, not the best facilities, but you'll be able to play twice as often as aa on a check, and they're BYOP if you aren't renting their equip.
Air Assault will cost you an arm leg and maybe a few things in between. FPO, but they've got killer facilities. And the people I've meet there when there haven't been large events were jerks, simply put.

As for outdoor [I will continue to say it because it's true] I'm biased, I work for the Adventure Zone, We've been running kinda low budget while we look for new land for the upcoming season [we'll have MULTIPLE speedball fields once the move is finally made], and we're in the Southern 'Burbs. [Rosemount] but we've got friendly staff and BYOP and you won't be paying with body parts... unless you choose to...
I've had problems whenever I've gone to MN Pro's fields with theft and my car came out very colorful... But just because it's happened to me doesn't guarantee it'll happen to you...

DON'T GO TO SPlATBALL !!!!!!!
Air Assault paintball is so much better
better field, better refs, better employees better every thing
I started a brand to the sport last may and I play there all the time
the people are really nice and will help you get better if you ask
I have played there so much and learned ALOT from the nice people there
the people there are good but the only to be good is to play good people.
DON'T GO TO SPATBALL
they have a croncrete field floor
and Air Assault have a really nice turf field
If you go to Air Assault I garauntee you wont be disapointed

Splatball is $75 a case, same as Air Assault. And BYOP is $15 at Splatball. Field fee and all day air at AAP is $15, while its $20 at Splatball. I got this info from your very own post. Stop saying AA is so much more expensive, its a flat out lie. You can say you don't like the people that were at AA when you were there, but going on about the prices being too high is ridiculous.

For the record, Air Assault, Annandale, and Northside are my favorite places to play. If you want woodsball, Splat Tag can't be beat. Gary, JT, Vince, and Darrin are all stand up guys and provide top quality facilities.

I paid approx $40 the last time I was at Splat...

I'd pay a minimum of $90 if I went to Air Assault.

I don't HAVE to buy paint as Splat - Why buy paint for 75 when it can be purchased elsewhere for cheaper?

Uhh No.

You had to buy paint to play @ Splat right? So you need to add that cost in: $40 + paint.

A minimum of $90? If you shoot a case. I usually go thru a bag or two all day open play @ AAP with a pump gun. So now AAP costs $15 to get it plus whatever you buy in paint. Claiming it is expensive is misleading. Factoring in the facility and player base--AAP is a much better value.

Period.

No when you don't have to pay for the paint - Paint's the majority of my tips when I'm working, plus stockpiling over the season - I haven't bought a case of paint in over 6 months... So I've never paid more than $40 on any occassion I've gone to Splat

And when it's from the staging area in your bag when you're on the field, locking your doors doesn't do crap.

Ok, when I go to AA I don't pay more than $40 either, if we use your logic. Just because I could play for free at a field I wouldn't go tell other people its free to play there. I thought we were talking about the price that a person off the street would pay. I don't usually recommend places to people based on any discounts or deals I may get, since they likely won't apply to other people. The fact that you get tipped in paint doesn't mean jack to the average person, so the info is completely unhelpful. For the average person walking in off the street, Air Assault is no more expensive than Splatball Inc, and the facilities are vastly superior.

so lets do the math AA is 75 a case and 15 entry which is 90 dollars.
Splatball is 75 a case and 20 entry which is 95 dollars. so since when is 95 less then 90. so AA is cheaper then splatball. so you basically straight out lied to this guy who is new to this hobby. yes paintball is a hobby not a sport.

Thats some pretty impressive math Mr. Savage, maybe you can show it to your teachers up in hickville and get some extra credit.

Burn. But you forgot MN_Rising is taking special discounts and deals not available to just anyone to calculate the cost to play at Splatball. Which completely invalidates her point anyways.

I'm not a member of Splatball and so I don't get discounts of any sort from Splatball - but if I buy a case of paint ELSEWHERE for Less than $75 I'd be able to bring it to Splatball, Which means I pay $40 to play at Splatball because I have the option to bring paint from elsewhere, which is not the case if I go to AA.

It's that case of paint that makes the difference seeing as you HAVE to purchase a case from AA, while you can get paint for less elsewhere and bring it to Splat.

So I don't know where you're getting and 'special discounts and deals' because I'm not getting any when I go to Splatball.

Again, even if you don't buy paint at Splatball, the paint has to come from somewhere. Even if you get it for $30 a case elsewhere, you are still paying for it. And even if you get it for tips or something, its still a cost that you have to consider. Again, saying AAP is way more expensive than Splatball isn't legitimate.
