ha ha. NIU will own anybody guaranteed if skel, adam, irish, kruz, and rookie play . college paintball is a joke competition wise every team except a few have 1 or two good players and the rest are ****ty to mediocore.

the rest probably resent that remark, pal. considering that about 75% of u of i's tournament lineup had either never touched a gun or didn't have any tournament experience before coming to college, and looking at where they are now, i really don't think it matters who you get. if you work hard enough as a team, you'll kick ***. example 1: we sent 6 random guys to the stinger tournament a month or two ago, not expecting to get anywhere, and we placed 13 of 32. of these, one guy had played nationals, a few were at their first or second tournament, and one hadn't played much before. we ended up beating isu's top line. they figured they'd roll right over us, as did we, but we went out and played hard, and kicked some ***.

by the way, for what it's worth, we've got an ex-voltage player as well, who happens to be a current avalanche x player.

i realize. i've been to his house, played beer pong with him, etc. we were trying to convince him to stick around for another semester to do nationals, but this college **** ain't cheap.

regardless, i'm looking forward to good competition as well.

CWW: I am not in any way trying to take anything away from what you or your teammates have accomplished. I played next to jake for a while, all of his teammates at U of I were cool peeps.
I look forward to competing in the Collegiate series in '08, I don't think anyone can say that it won't be interesting.

same here. i'm just trying to make it obvious that not everyone comes into college with years of tournament experience, myself included. not blaming you for that by any stretch, but the "if you've never played before, you must suck" mentality kind of pisses me off. getting involved with the sport is part of what college ball is about, in my mind, i know it's a big part of what our team is about. having talent show up is good, don't get me wrong, but shaping talent is another thing. hell, we had a kid come out for practice, a couple of the older guys figured he wouldn't last with the tournament team. he got into s2 with his stock 98 custom and headshield, and ended up bunkering 2 guys before taking a bad slide and getting his feet shot off. played in the first class a event. practice always makes perfect, but some of us have a little bit of a late start.

will, rename the thread to "college paintball in the MW: love to hate it, hate to love it, and generally like shooting people". something shorter might be better, though. again, my bad for stealing your thread.
