i was actually disappointed. there seemed to be a lot more "revelations" in his previous two 'blockbusters'. it was a good book no doubt, but didn't live up to my expectations.

Forever by Pete Hamill.
A good book which chronicles the life of Cormac O'Conner who inherits a wonderful gift - everlasting life (with one stipulation, he must remain on Manhattan Island). It follows him from being a child in Ireland in the early 1700's through his revenge seeking voyage to the United States (where he receives the gift) and as he watches the city change during great episodes in American History (Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mid 1800's, and modern times).
You can read the first 89 pages on Google Books:

Just picked up Touching the Void by Joe Simpson, and The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams... planned to read Touching the Void first, but the Hitchhikers guide is calling my name.

The Tender Bar by JR Moehringer...wow...this is one of the best writers I've seen. After the first chapter I knew this guy was gonna be good.

Pretty good. I think it's also important to have a pretty solid background of knowledge on the situation in Afghanistan, but it's definitely an eye opener.

After much looking around, the new book I am looking forward to is Tommyland, The Heroine Diaries, and My hard Road out of hell.
