I actually did a paper/essay on that for my college Sociology class. Got me a lot of extra credit, especially since my professor was a practicing Communist.
It wasn't a bad read. The whole thing is a good idea in theory.
I'm currently reading 'Invisible Monsters' by Chuck P. I've got 3 other books waiting.

'Invisible Monsters' was okay. Certainly not my favorite by Chuck.
Right now, I'm going to start reading 'Women' by Charles Bukowski

I'm finishing up 'Slouching Torwards Nirvana' by Bukowski. It's a good read if you haven't read it yet.
I'm also reading 'The House on Mango Street' for my World Lit class and I can't stand it. The actual story isn't bad, I just hate Cisnero's style of writing.
The books I'm reading on my own time are:
'Steps' and 'The Devil Tree' by Jerzy Kosinski
'Searchin For God Knows What' by Donald Miller
'Then We Came To The End' by Joshua Ferris

I was at a flea market on saturaday and found Cormac McCarthy's The Road for 2 bucks so I went ahead and picked it up. Never read him before.

How do you like the book by Donald Miller? I read his description on his web site, and it looks interesting.

This is probably my least favorite of his books. He's a spiritual writer who talks about the things Christians don't usually want to discuss. However, 'Searching For God Knows What', to me, is more of a study of the Bible and explaining the meaning of it, whereas 'Blue Like Jazz' is the story of his life and how he came to know God. I'd pick up 'Blue Like Jazz' or 'Through Painted Deserts'.

At this exact moment I am not reading anything because it's finals week, but next week when I go on my trip I will be working on:
Children of Hurin by Tolkien (the one finished by his son/grandson, I can't remember which)
End War by Tom Clancy
Roughneck Nine-One by Antenori
(first person account of a green beret team's battle with an Iraqi armor unit at the beginning of the war)
Day by Day Armageddon by Bourne
(first person account of the zombie apocalypse, fiction obviously)

Then We Came to the End--Joshua Ferris (somewhat humorous fluff)
Fame and Obscurity--Gay Talese (fantastic New Journalism essay collection)
The Idiot--Dostoevsky (simply marvelous novel; hilarious, poignant, well translated from the original Russian)
That's what I'm reading at the moment--I highly recommend "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski. It's an amazing experimental novel.
