Open up your manual and read it....If your flatline is not seated correctly it may break paint. You could try A different brand of paint... As far as the remote return it and buy a new one

I say buy an Angel. If you break a Tippman then somehow you shouldn't be able to break an Angel.

How old is your flat-line? The older ones don't have an o-ring in the front end and should be taken back to Tippmann to address the problem. If its a newer model, then you probably don't have the barrel seated correctly. In which case, refer to the owner's manual. As far as paint is concerned, make sure that whatever paint you are using, it is winter fill formula to withstand current cold temperatures. Keep in mind that most winter fills don't hold up to temps lower than 25-30 degrees. And lastly, your remote line. If you've never had a chance to use it, then its probably brand new. If it is brand new, then send it back to the manufacturer. Without having the gun in my hands, however, to look it over, it becomes near impossible to say exactly what's wrong. Its like trying to give a haircut over the phone.

IMO the best way to figure out problems with your gun (I mean this mostly for mechs because every time I mess with an electro I get hurt...) is read the manual, take it apart, and figure out how everything works. It may cost you a few small parts like it did for me, but if they're small enough Tippmann might even cover shipping (they did for my 98 forward sight spring).
You even have the advantage of having an A-5, which is one of the easiest guns to strip down. I don't have any, but could someone post diagrams of the A-5's internals? Preferably with an attached Flatline.
