go snake go is directing a player to do something which would be coaching...
You would just need a ref on the outside of the net looking just for that and penalize his team for it..If they dont have a team then ask them to leave ...
If they were out there yelling he is in the sanke or in the center can then that would be coaching...
But, cheering when a person got snapped out of the snake by his opposing snake player isnt coaching

that means the need for more refs, costs go up etc

you shouldn't penalize the team they're talking to for it, the team playing can not control the spectators and it would be stupid to hold their team accountable for the spectators actions.

He's alluding to the fact that the team set-up a person on the oputside to help them. So the team would know about it even if they claim not to, hard to tell the truth of the matter unless you had someone listen in on the conversation held prior to th game about the plan etc.

Very true, I see your point. Honestly though I think that the nets and bleachers are posted far enough away from the tape line to where it would be very hard to hear instructions. Also I think that there should just be one ref watching the bleachers/crowd and make in very clear that if they shout out anything that could be considered coaching, that they will be immediately escorted from the premise.

EDIT: This is applied to a tournament situation only as I know there is enough noise going on around to where it would make it hard to clearly hear anything from the crowd.

yeah, but I thought of something about your previous point. If you penalize the team, then other teams could have someone yell instructions to an opposing team to get them penalized.

I was thinking that exact same thing when I was reading DPG's post about penalizing them.

WASNT TALKING ABOUT THE PENALIZING THE TEAM ON THE FIELD JUST THE TEAM THAT THE PERSON FROM THE SIDELINES BELONGS TO....
AND IF THEY BELONG TO ONE OF THE TEAMS ON THE FIELD THEN SO BE IT IT HAPPENS TO THEM.
THEN THE TEAMS WILL POLICE THEIR OWN SPECTATORS...
AND IF THEY ARE JUST TROUBLE MAKERS AND DONT BELONG TO A TEAM THEM HAVE THEM REMOVED BECAUSE THEY ARENT DOING ANY GOOD FOR THIS SPORT

1. Please take off caps when you post.
2. You aren't listening to what I'm saying.

You have contradicted yourself in the bolded portion of your post. There would be no point in coaching another team as a spectator. Also, there should be no penalizing anyways, like I said we should just remove those who are doing anything but cheering on the game.

I vote yes for Level 1 & 2.

I say let the people coach. If you have ever played a PSP event, they allow coaching on all levels and trust me, once the game starts, it's very very easy to block out the crowd.

Let the people coach and help bring some spectators to the events. Do it Dan!

Have you played Level 2?? all of those guys are not new to 5-man and if they are, they don't show it. Everytime I've played an MPS event, every team that I played was tough and it was battle each time.

Let the people coach!

Ya, sorry guys... this was brought up last year and was shot down. There are enough people that are against this idea that will not allow it to happen. I too am somewhat against the idea because I think it will cause even more drama on the sidelines with spectators not getting along. I've already had to break up several arguements over the years.... I dont need this adding fuel to the fire.

one thing you could do to keep it to only one person coaching is have the coach only on dorito side so the crowd can keep quiet on snake side. idk though, i don't really care either way.

Having played tourneys with coaching and without, I way prefer without coaching. Coaching takes away alot of the creativity. What good does it do to notice that the entire opposing team is looking one way and try a bunker run only to have the sideline scream the move is coming.

I wouldnt do coaching, just because like Dan and some other people said it adds drama to the sidelines. Ive seen where people get into fist fights at psp's. Its not fun, and this series should be done the way paintball should be played- such as no coaching. Use your teammates to communicate, it is a team sport.

I dont think coaching will be a good thing. as far as all of the arguments involving the croud is irrevelant. The main problem is in some of the events when there wasnt a lot of L1 teams L1 and L2 played against each other. So imo we should not have coaching. It also takes away the dramatics in the game.
