i say yes for LVL 1 and no for everything else, i think it would REALLY spice things up a bit and probably draw some higher end teams to play L1

maybefor level one. but the rest a solid thumbs down. It seems however like this would raise a ton of issues for the refs to deal with along with the game. One coach with the crowd is like a bunch of coaches. If the crowd yells support when a player makes a good move or a teammate gets shot out it automatically puts people at a disadvantage/advantage. The crowd cheers for the winning team just look at the latest steelers game. I dunno alot of questions for this and alot more rules and things for the refs to keep peoples eye on. JUST MY TWO CENTS THO

the bad thing about having coaching for level 1 and not level 2 is that they both play at the same time, and there is no way for the refs to figuer out who is 1 and who is 2. theres no debate about it, dan said no and its not changing!

I think it is stupid to try and stop the coaching, if we ever want spectators we need to let them have some fun. Right now all that comes to paintball events are paintballers, wives, moms and dads.......if you have a girlfriend that attends your events, you are one lucky man sir.

I say put 1 coach on the side, and let people yell a bit, but with sportsmanlike conduct of course.

The idea of drawing spectators has been one of conversation since paintball began. I think that coaching has its strong points and weak points. yet it doesnt seem to be the way to bring people into the game. Look at all national events. what do they have that we dont have? vendors sponsors advertising on local radio, large venues. I hate to say it but most of the fields in KS are off the Beaten path. Now the bunker in OK is a different story. yet until we get the spectators out and interested in coming maybe for shwag or things like that it becomes a difficult question on does coaching bring spectators? Ultimately NO. THe PSP had spectators before coaches. They wanted to integrate large stadium sporting atmosphere into paintball and devised a strict set of coaching rules and regulations that must be followed. Until we have the fans that want to cheer we dont have the need for coaching.

in short coaching and yelling spectators comes when we have the fan base to get people into the game. both of which are lacking from the MPS

i think coaching would work for d3 and d4
but really.new d2 players would be going from 3 man d3 into 5 man d2 with coaching??that would be to big of a leap if you ask me.d1 all the way..maybe if they take a vote b4 the event to see who wants coaching or not.but not d2 imo

There would be nothing wrong with the sideline coaching in any level....
It would ultimately be up to the crowd/spectators to be that... just a spectator not a coach from the crowd.... cheering on a team is fine but, when you have 20 spectators who think they are coaches is when all heck will break loose.
Allow a coach opposite side from spectators...
Allow crowd cheering on their favorite team...
But, BAN the crowd coaching.......

The question is how as a group of interested players do we get other spectators at the tournament? Most tournaments now-a-days allow cheering when the game is over. So how do we transition "end game" cheering to whole "game cheering"? Plus we must ask: is coaching really the ticket for spectators? All of these questions have yet to be answered in this thread by someone with some clout. I am not trying to be ignorant but people keep jumping from COaching to increased spectators. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN. JUST because someone yells on the sidelines or from the box doesnt mean JOE SCHMO is gonna come watch paintball. DPG and Poppa smurf both associate coaching with increased crowds. NOT TO BASH but how does this happen? Just because a father or mother yells themself hoarse cheering for their id doesnt make others wish do the same thing. Its like trying to draw a crowd to a highschool golf tournament. IF your not a player then ur not interested.

Corona Beer man raises the most valid point when he talks of brining other teams into the circuit but even that in itself does not make the crowds appear and the playing get more intense. It might broaden the field but not the crowd.

TO many questions to answer and no one of any clout to tell us how this will happen. SOrry but i would like these logical answers to be put in place before I COMPLY with this post.

i think we just need to have sideline coaching for level 1 then and like i said the croud doesnt have to get in to it if u read it paintballcapt whatever only a COACH can yell.
and i think it will help bring more people out because it will be more competitive and moreexciting that way

coaching in level one would be cool with me,but if your going to have coaching, you cant leave out the spectators, everyone loves to scream at the players and refs.oh,and dont forget counter coaching its always fun too.

NO WHERE IN MY POST DOES IT SAY I ASSOCIATE SIDELINE COACHING WITH MY SPECTATORS......
IT JUST SAYS THAT IT WOULD BE FINE IF YOU COULD KEEP THE CROWD FROM TRYING TO COACH AT THE SAME TIME.

Hard to define cheering and coahcing unless you have a ref every 5-10 feet on the spectator's side. I mean hard to tell the difference between, Go Team Go and Go to snake GO unless there are refs right there.

Just my two cents,

Josh
