problem w/F8...
ok. have had no problems until today at the field...was playing and the f8 starts being a little lame and decides that when i'm firing anything over single shot 2-5 bps it doesn't want to keep steady airflow and cycle correctly. I think i already know the answer to my question ----THE REG needs to be lubed and rebuilt-----but, could this be anything else? I've already replaced battery, lubed every frickin o-ring in the thing, and double checked all airways. i've changed out ASA/on-off too, just in case it had anything to do with restriction of tankside regulated pressure....ANSWERS????

He said he already did
You check basically everything but the reg, so lube the reg...

You answered your own question.
Only other things that I could see it being is low on air or tank reg problem. From what it sounds like you would have noticed if you were low on air and the possibility of it being the tanks reg.
Prob just the hpr reg like you said.

How common is this issue with the F8 reg? I was watching Killion530 play and it was severe drop off, worse than anything I have ever seen

Check your tank reg, the exact same thing happened to my buddys Fusion. Turned out to be a oring in the tank reg that had torn. The only time i have had drop off was when my tank reg was messed up, once i replace it my F8 shot like a dream agian.

brand new DXS tank - we tried checking to be sure the ASA wasn't allowing full pressure into the gun but everything checked out OK

try another tank? maybe by some freak chance the ASA you tried had the same
problem. maybe there is something wrong with the tanks pin valve. do you
have any ASA's with a reg on them? if you can see the pressure coming out of
the tank this would be a sure indicator if that was the issue.
EDIT: also, might as well rebuild the reg.

Did you call DP customer service? This is a great forum to get other players input on fixing/repairing your own marker. But when you have such a great customer service in DP, why not just call them and they will help correct the problem.
Know that I said that here is a few ideas:
I know you said you changed your battery, but just make sure the battery is a good battery.
We already changed batteries to find out the battery wasn't any better then the original. (damn WALMART batteries)
Good Luck, with the F8. Give the boys at DP a call.

Its not common once the reg is rebuilt. You wont have this problem at all or again most likely.
Get some lube in there so it works correctly and you will be all set.

Check the reg seat. I had a problem with some reg seats getting torqued and bent out of shape somehow. The gun wouldn't pressurize correctly. Replacing the seat should do the trick.

Most likely it is the black plastic ring in the small end of the reg piston (reg seat?) that is damaged, causing such problems. Same stuff is discussed here
If rebuilding the reg/diff tank/diff ASA doesn't do it, try a different reg like a hyper 2 or CP. Should help in isolating the issue. The same thing happened to me, and it was the reg's plastic ring. DP is sending a new reg piston (or so they say...)
Otherwise, the other possibility is damaged valve o-rings, but try everything else first. And give DP a call

I had this problem, I could not find the problem and I switched out parts from my other F8. Just send it to DP and they'll fix it. I have no idea what they did to mine but it seems* to be fixed now...
