I'd just be worried about putting excess power across the board and frying the board. You have to remember that the spyder boards were designed with that charging circuit built in. I would not risk it with this idea. You could wire in a switch in line so that the battery was either connected to the charger or to the board. That would make it safe, but then you'd have to drill a hole and affix a switch. I think it is more effort than it is worth. We are talking about removing one screw to change the batteries.. is it worth the extra work and risking ruining the board?

I like the train of thought, would be a neat solution and i'm sure you can buy the little white crimp multiplugs from radio spares, that or modify a replacement battery harness. if you look for a chassis mountable socket it would only require 1 neat hole and the connector itself would seal it all in and neaten it up nicely.

If you look a bit further up i mention a type of charging socket that has the switch built in, so when a plug is in, the power only goes to the battery. connection is remade to the board when the charge plug is removed.

The only hassle then is that it will loose all the board settings every time you charged it. UNLESS YOU TADAO it, because the Tadao board uses non-volatile memory so it keeps its settings for a damn long time without power.

haha i was sondering about a thumb screw for a while now, didnt know the threads though, thanks for that, ima go grab one of my spares.

as for the charger, itd be complicated, but not impossible.

route in switch that will allow power to be cut from the board and go to the charger.

route enough space for the switch wires and the charger plug in base

drill hole for charger in bottom or anywhere on foregrip

drill slit for switch and 2 holes for mounting.

viola, ill check the space requirements later

Its been stated above, but there is a female plug that has a built in mechanism for "switching" between charging and powering the gun depending on if you have the gun plugged in or not... Luckily I already have the piece that I am describing and it is only about the size of the fingernail on my little finger so space should not really be an issue. I would move along and make the thing already, but I have a charger and battery that I would like to use in my dorm and unfortunately I don't go back for a few more days.

you're right about that. but with all respect - I don't think this is a mod that stock mini owners will be concerned with. it's a tinkerer's mod so i would assume that most will have an aftermarket board

"Mummy bought me this mini for christmas and i'd love to make it blinging and different. Shall i spend 2 whole days playing money on a board that makes little difference to me or maybe i could spend a $ on a connector and $5 on a battery get modding and have a cool modded gun that i dont have to spend $2 on every time i play to have a new Duracell (just cos i like to be sure, and i spend every night ripping for an hour in my room just to practice)"

Not half likely mate. Last christmas pressie i got like that was 15 years ago.
I was merely posing a possible scenario for mini owners that might want to do this sort of mod but not have an aftermarket board already. Wasn't insulting anyone at all, not real or theoretical, its not lame to have a nice mum and little money after paying walkon fees and paint.

Why, you sure seem defensive to me.. Did you give ya mum a BIIIG kiss when she gave you that mini a week ago?

Like I said, your post was confusing as all hell and I could not figure out if you were trying to insult me or not. So I said what was said just in case you were indeed talking to me.

Coming from a new December 2007 member one would guess that your mini came from something holiday related, not mine. I however bought my gear with money from the state of Florida and my excess college scholarships. It sure is nice to get paid to go to school and get paid to play on their team.

erm.. aftermarket boards dont do this either. this would be for soemone that doesnt want to take their battery out just to charge it. just plug in the gun and let it sit.

and theres those of us that mod the **** outta stuff cuz were tinkerers/engineers lol

somebodies on their pms....
