You want to open a pro-shop????

This is a look at what you need to do if you plan to open a paintball pro-shop.

Most of what I have to say are only tips on how to open.

Read the stickies/MEGATHREAD and watch this video......

There are 3 parts.

1. http://youtube.com/watch?v=w9doriQh5ko

2. http://youtube.com/watch?v=hFRJ5NscCxE

3. http://youtube.com/watch?v=skVvCpSI9l4

Thanks

NSL

Nice job. This should clear up some of the five thousand "HOW DO I START A STORE/FIELD?!?!" posts. Sticky Anyone?

People can "expect" anything they want. What you will get will depend on your efforts and you research before you open the doors.

You might not last more than a few weeks and loose everything you invested or you might make a decent living from it. It will be somewhere in betwen those two extremes.

I can tell you it no easier to make a living from a retail paintball store than most other retail stores. Your chance of success would probably be better if you sell house paint.

Thanks everyone.

I dont mind the question about how much i make. Yes, it is a personal question. Lets just say I would make a little more money if I was working a
9-5 that paid $10 an hour.

I would be making more if the US economy wasn't in the crapper

The real value of the business is...Its mine.

I get to enjoy my work. Every year I buy myself something as a bonus.

2 years ago a bought a new car.

Last year I bought a new paintball gun.

This year I took a trip to Amsterdam.

So, I will say that you can make money. But not as much as you think.

Mike

nice videos, definately puts a good outlook on what to expect if you want to open a store. in my opinion(especially after watching the 3rd video) it should deter kids from wanting to open stores up and think its all easy fun and games because theyve been playing paintball for X amount of years and think they know alot.
personally after watching the videos, i dont know what logic people would use to still want to open a store. no time/energy for social life? no time to play paintball really? 10 or 11 hour work days sometimes? really hard to take a vacation or have a sick day probably because then you have to find someone else to run the store..... why not just save that money up mommy or daddy says they will put into the business or use that loan you would take out and put yourself through school, get a 5 day a week 8 or 9 hour workday job, make more money than you would at a paintball store most likely, not have to worry about the financial end of the business really, have weekends off to still play paintball, and have a social life?

I agree with everything you said except one....You need $20,000. After you said that, you went on to explain about rent, phones, utilities, signs, tools, air, cabinets, cash register, credit card machine, fax, lawyers, accountants, paint, displays, insurance and many more things. Those alone are more than $20,000. I have a small store and have over $150,000 in inventory. $100,000 minimum or you will fail.
