Local website/forum..

So it's been a while since I played, moved overseas for a few years. Anyway got home and noticed there isn't really anything like 801paintball and was thinking about starting another site for Utah and the surrounding states. Just wondering if there would be much if any interest.

I looked into it a few years ago. With this forum and also the Utah Paintball facebook groups there really is no void for a state forum at this point

You do realize that Paintball Addicts and Utah Extreme Paintball are both speedball fields and that there are several established and new speedball teams:

Tombstone D3 NPPL 7-man and WCPPL
SLC Tension/Faction D3/D4 WCPPL
Hooligans D3/D4 NPPL 7-man and WCPPL
Venom D4 NPPL 7-man
Tsunami D2 NPPL 7-man

These are JUST the traveling teams and does not include the local teams. A more complete list can be found on facebook (utah paintball and utah paintball players pages). We all practice on Sat/Sun at both fields and on Mon night at UXP and Wed night at Addicts. All players and teams are always invited! So I would hardly say that Utah sucks for paintball!

I would actually say Paintball is stronger than ever in Utah. It's no California by any means. But I wouldn't gauge the success of paintball by the number of on-line forums. What was already said is true; here and Facebook have been enough to keep everyone in the loop about what's going on. No sense in thinning the community even further by adding more forums. They have been attempted and failed.

As far as the fields; Addicts and UXP are excellent fields who both support the community and host their own tournaments. There is also the local 7-man events by Pure Paintball and the Saints events. All of those are speedball events. So if you ask me, the majority of what is going on in the area is speedball.

However, with the turn in the economy several years back, our area has really blended the "genres" of the sport together, and avoided the separation of woods and other types of paintball, and looked at it more as a venue, than a genre. We all love paintball. In Utah, I would say we are seeing more and more scenario guys dabbling in speedball and more speedball players hitting up the local scenarios. So to say we "suck for paintball" sounds like a step backwards in what we all feel as a community we have achieved.

Supporting paintball as a whole is what you will notice in Utah, no matter WHERE it is played.

Some resources to consider checking out if you are simply looking for more paintball:

Battleball Paintball (St George) - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Battle...l/351002795089

And there is an ever-growing group of woodsballers who play up in Hobble Creek almost every weekend - http://www.facebook.com/HCPWs?fref=ts
Also Derek Jones is heading up a new tournament series with both woods and airball, depending on the event. And limited paint: http://www.facebook.com/groups/161519144005994/

Yeah man the scene is pretty big in Utah, particularly the Salt Lake area currently. North of Ogden is still mainly woodsball but there are teams and people trying to make speedball more dominant. During the summer months, our team sets up an airball field that all players are welcome to come to.

The Facebook correlation seems to be working better than 801paintball.com or other forums ever have in the past. Even here on PbNation doesn't get as much attention as the Facebook pages.

Check out www.facebook.com/teambasicpb for info if you live in Cache Valley or Southern Idaho.
