I know scheels charges like 4 bucks to fill hpa, and it's like 20 cents an ounce for co2. Scheels isn't bad, just a little overpriced on some things.

HPA vs Co2 has nothing to do with you "wearing out your o-rings" in your gun.

Nothing.

HPA is not "cleaner" than Co2, nor is it a magical cure all for paintball guns. HPA is more convenient to fill and is naturally more consistent than Co2.

Co2 only gets a bad rep when guns are allowed to draw liquid co2 into the valve and then it cooks off inside, spiking pressures. However, ALL Tippmans are designed to deal with this, hence the design of the CVX and newer valves.

No.

Co2 is a dynamic gas, it exists in 3 phases within a co2 tank.

1. Gas (good)
2. Vapor
3. Liquid (bad)

When you shoot a gun fast on co2, it begins to draw some of the vapor in, which quickly expands into gas inside the gun and causes the "snow" effect or for condensation to form throughout the gun.

When you tilt the barrel lower than the tank, liquid can get into the gun and quickly flash into gas, amplifying the vapor effect.

This freezing and condensation ARE BAD for your guns seals. Any moisture can lead to oxidation.

However, Co2 gas is totally inert. It has no detrimental effect on anything within a gun. Thus, the gun functioning an pure Co2 gas fine. In fact, 95% of all paintguns ever made were designed to function on Co2, some even were made to be used strictly on siphoned co2 liquid!

If you took the time to properly setup a co2 system, you could run almost ANY modern hi-end electro on co2. However the expense and the margin for error makes HPA the preferred choice (and needed for warranty reasons). You would need an Anti-siphon tank or remote, and a dual regged setup (usually Palmer Stablizers are used). Some people also use in-line filters which can stop some co2 crystals that may make it into the anti-siphon tube.

Compare this to HPA. HPA is NOT an inert gas, it has oxygen in it which causes oxidization which IS detrimental to the internals of your paintball gun.

The only thing "hard" on your gun is improper maintenance and IGNORANCE. Something that runs rampant on PBN.

Pay attention in Chemistry class children, it can be beneficial in other pursuits.

CHEMITRON FTW! oxidation=bad thats why we get old! thats why dark liquids aka coffee, dark beer, dark tee=good=antioxidant=slow down aging... just in case you wanted to know

Taking "REALLY GOOD" care of your gun is usually one of the problems. Paintball guns are not designed to be continuously service, especially Tippmans and the like. Excessively taking them apart can cause excessive wear and tear.

Basically, you need to approach gun service like you would your car. You don't change your oil everytime you drive do you? So why tear down your gun after each time you play with it?

Oil it every few cases and clean it when you have a massive chop or get a bunch of debris inside it, otherwise--leave it alone. Of the countless hundreds of "broken" guns I've worked on, about 95% were pure user related. A combination of carelessness, ignorance, or taking things apart without instructions.

Don't bother with the expansion chamber, they do next to nothing besides add weight to your gun.

Take $10 and buy an Anti-siphon tube kit and have it installed in your Co2 tank, preferably a 20oz. This is the best upgrade you can do for a modern tippman.

Your gun will be more consistent (thus "accurate") and you'll get more shots per tank.
