I would also like to add something. This may not make sense to any of you beginners, but the slower you practice, the faster/better you will get. Try not to improve speed and accuracy only after a few days or so or it will hinder you.
If you can't play something slow and clean, what makes you think you can play it fast and clean? This is where I messed up early in my guitar playing. I tried to get as fast as possible in a short amount of time and I had to go back and relearn a lot of basics just a year ago.
So again......practicing slow and controlled will make you improve faster than just grabbing a guitar and trying to play as fast as you can. Speed is not important.

Im a guitar newbie so bare with me guys. Im looking for a pretty nice and complete starter kit. I know its not really important but id like a guitar thats wood rather that a composite material. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Ive found one set that looks decent but id like some input on it. Im also not sure if its very important but i like the shape of this guitar so if anyone knows of a good starter kit with this shape guitar in wood thatd be great. Thanks

Yeah that's a real good starter package. I might suggest going with this one over that one. They're essentially the same shape, and you can see the wood grain on this one. But if you're going to be playing metal/shred type stuff, then that's the package you want to go with.

If i do it wont be for a while. Ive always been interested in playing guitar so im gonna give it a shot. Im not in a huge hurry to get good and i need a hobby aside form paintball. Im sure at some point lessons will be needed but i dont mind learning some stuff on my own for a while first.

What exactly is a short scale guitar as opposed to a regular guitar?

Short scale = 24.75 in.
Fender (normal) scale = 25.5 in.
Short scale guitars tend to be easier to play because of the reduced tension in the strings.

I've never found any online lessons to be any good. You're going to have questions, and if you take lessons online, you're not going to get your questions answered.

Well they have 24 hour support and ive seen a few people say they offer good lessons and stuff. Id just like to hear from people on a good source of lessons aside form an actual person. Although im sure thats best its not always convinient. If there are any DVDs or anythign else that is worthwhile please lmk
