Fight War, Not Wars; Anarcho-Punk, Crust, Politcal, and Hardcore Punk

I feel like there is a small minority of users here that may be into the more hardcore/purposeful side of punk rock, Bands like:

Crass
Leftover Crack
Subhumans
Choking Victim
Black Flag
The Circle Jerks
A Global Threat
The Virus
Citizen Fish
Nausea
Propagandhi
Dead Kennedys
Heart Attack
etc.

So I thought that we needed a thread, to discuss the type of music that we love, and any possible local/national rallies/protests etc, something where people can take action to further notify people of the bull**** happening in our world's government

I was waiting for this kind of thread. What about minor threat do they fit in with all of these bands, I like black flag and dead kennedys and a few others you listed also but havn't listened to the other ones on the list. And i'm sure you guys will hate me for saying it but authority zero has a few god songs even though they are pretty recent, but I don't really like some of their songs.

Go to college if you want to learn about the "bull****" in "our world's government" (world government?). I can assure you, The Circle Jerks and Black Flag were much more about being self destructive, violent, and offensive than getting any sort of message out there.

indeed. never considered any of their stuff really political, its just fun music for me.

to contribute to the thread:

the varukers
the exploited
toxic narcotic
cock sparrer
a global threat
the antidote
the addicts
the business
the bruisers

i just like some of the music, especially the subhumans, addicts, and the exploited (SEX AND VIOLENCE!). never really cared enough to get really into the meaning, but i did recognize it and gave respect to wear its due. i much prefer the more Oi! stuff, its just fun.

in a lot of cases i feel like a lot of the bands are just talk and dont actually do ****. i mean johnny virus (i think thats his stage name, i cant even remember im so out of the loop) from the virus is a ****ing corporate computer programer...

edit: im sorry, but the people from leftover crack/choking victim (basically the same guys minus 1, i think) are ****ing junky douche bags. although choking victim was way better then leftover crack x100.

The Dead Kennedys however were all about the message, the lead singer jello biafra still tours doing spoken word, and collaborates with other bands to get his message out.

There is nothing "punk" about DK. Anyone who sells their albums in malls and Best Buy is not "Punk," they just fuel capitalism. But as for true punk music, i'm lucky I live in Minnesota, the punk scene here is bad ***. There's lots of underground shows that go on in Minniapolis and a lot of great bands have came from this state.

Yeah, because the band today has much different ethics than they did before when Jello was with them. Jello was completely anti-corporate, but the new DK seems to fully embrace commercialism, getting songs in commercials and video games. The band is nothing without him. They're terrible now.

Propagandhi and Warsawpack are my favorite political bands by far but they don't really fit with most of the bands posted in this thread.

Some Hardcore/PV/thrash bands I'm into:

Magrudergrind
Government Warning
Jellyroll Rockheads
Scholastic Deth
Uzi Suicide
Spazz
Stikky
Corrupted Morals
Palatka
******* Parade
What Happens Next
Robot Has Werewolf Hand

Not into anarcho stuff all that much. And lol at anyone mentioning Anti-Flag in this thread.

Anybody here ever listen to "Black ***?" A gay parody of Black Flag, it's pretty funny. Yeah I like Jello, especially his work with The Melvins.

You've got to be kidding, DK is the definition of punk. Like TheModPat said, Jello is gone, they are older, there's been member changes, it's not the same band anymore. There's just no way Fresh Fruit isn't a quintessential punk record though.

I might as well contribute to the thread. Some essential hardcore that hasn't been mentioned:

Articles of Faith
The Dicks
Void
Googol Plex
Deep Wound
Siege
Septic Death
Bad Brains
SOA
Teen Idles
The Middle Class
Gang Green
Jerry's Kids
Koro
Die Kreuzen
Negative Approach

Some people do, it's called crust. Get into it (actually, don't. Most crusties are weiners).
