deffinetly go for a used ion. and dont buy a spyder please your going to want to upgrade wants you start to understand and get the hang of the sport and it will be a waste of money. right now your low on cash and ion, if not a pmr is the best thing you could do for yourself.

Smart Parts came out with a whole new line of inexpensive guns. Check those out. The positive thing with SP is the great upgrades that can get you tournament ready if you choose to go that direction if you decide to run back to woods ball or rec there are body kits to suit those needs. I say Smart Part over the pilot.

As for trade and resale you are in better shape with a SP name.

good luck.

my bro began on a ion and he loves it.. so do i (of the times i used it ). He only has a different trigger and clamping feedneck, thing shoots nicely and his j&j i think it is, is nice with it.. I have shot it a bit and loved the thing. They are great used (his was used like 2 times), and if your lucky you can get one thats "broke" for 50 bucks and all it needs is like a hose or some simple thing..

I personally like autocockers for tourney markers faster than a speeding bullet...

to the autococker part =P

An ion should be good enough a couple of my friends back on hawaii used them as their beginner markers and played a few tourneys with them just to see if they would like paintball. After that you can always resale the ion and upgrade if you really like paintball or you can just shoot the ion forever
