Marq back block question

i know since this has to do w/ the marq i should post in the marq forum, but i did and have wielded no answers so far, so i turn to the people of the anodizing community seeking advice.

ok well i am going to get my marq a clear and lime acid wash soon, and want the whole gun to be complete. i was wondering how, and if it is necissary to remove the 3 mounting posts on the back block of the marq. The reason that i ask is that they are a bronze color and i do not beleive that they are aluminum, and thus not capable of being anno'd.

Great question, but I don't have the answer...
If it's not aluminum, you should remove them. Try asking Bob Long how they come out, or try Alphanu22 on these forums (haven't seen him around much).
If they are impossible to remove, they can probably be masked, but there is always the possibility the mask will leak and get acid under it. If they are brass, sulfuric acid will aggresively attack it.

If you are getting the back cap clear, you might be able to just get that part laser engraved. Just a thought.

I dont know how they secure those in the back cap.

They are brass pins that are loctited in place, use a torch and vice grips to remove them.

^^ laser engraving the entire part would be almost impossible, it isnt a flat surface, and has cavities and spaces in it.

they screw off, just use a pair of pliers and they should come off fairly easily.
