A lot has changed in the industry in the past 4 years. Gear is a lot cheaper then what it was compared to. Example: while back for a tournament marker you'll have to shell out $600 bucks or so for an alright marker. Now you can spend $300 bucks if you wanted too.

well, as far as paintball is concerned, i think for every step forward we've taken someone took a step back. I'd say what went forward is the prices and quality. Look at the invert Mini, a gun that can compete with the best of the high ends for a quarter of what you'd pay for a new dm7. what really took us backwards is all the politics. i think all i have to say is "bill gardener smackdown thread" and we should all recall what is going on in politics. more lawsuits. look what it is doing to Icd.

What hasn't changed is that shooting, and getting hit sometimes, with these things called paintballs is still satisfying.

Indeed the politics has hurt almost everyone in the industry and the consumer base as well.

I'd really love to see how much easier politics is outside the spec we call Paintball.

This comment is a tad vague. I would like to hear your angle, but will comment.

I would agree that paintball is a very competitive marketplace as many other markets presently, but the patent games are not.

I don't think you can ignore the history of this sport, and I would encourage everyone to search this out for themselves. Especially the younger pbers...

But those tactics aside (not in the new marker market for over a decade), except my Palmer Blazer, paintball is still fun and exciting, especially as scenario ball has made its return.

I love that the grass roots stuff is coming back. From being a die hard outlaw and woodsball player myself, I have seen quite a few post tourney returns.

Oh that's easy. There are two kinds of politicians. Big losers, and the not as big losers.

peppersitcks are okay, they shoot well and clean fine, but if you can find an older Scepter kit, get it. Not the newer, but pre 2004.

I have a pre04 and pre07, not much difference.

07 was when they reduced the insert length, and a bit too much IMO.

deal for pepperstickz fell through

but found an 07 scepter kit for sale. some with a lot more bores. don't think i'll be playing paintball ENOUGH to justify spending even close to $100 on a barrel/kit. Should be food enough for me, yah?

I hear everyone raving about the older kits, but don't think there should be too much a difference.

i'm really debating which barrel to get...

i don't plan on paintballing too much anytime soon, i guess i could lay off the barrels for now?

I'm a poor student as well, so I was thinking of picking up one of the 14" evil driver barrels on ebay... they're about $18 shipped. what do you guys think of that barrel? .689 bore, should shoot most of the paintballs right?

wooooot my two promasters came in today :-D $200 + shipping for 2 promasters. teehee
