Cost of a college team

Ok, im trying to make a team and am meeting someone monday to talk about it. I was wonder if anyone who is on a team knows the cost, like entry fees, how much paint is used at each event and that kinda thing, so i can have an idea before i go talk with my school.

how about start by looking at the tournaments in your area.... all events and costs are posted here and on college-paintball.com.

assuming you are playing 5 man, just think about 1-2 cases each person per tourni

entry (except for nationals) is usually =<$150.
paint - we average 1 - 2 cases per game in 5man, so usually about 2 cases a person for the tournament (depending on roster size)
travel - depends on # cars, gas prices, food stops, hotel, etc... varies

two72slacker plays in the APPA D4 division
And then practices every weekend:

$25 for entrance fee per person
$40 per case of paint per person
X times you practice during the year
$150 entrance fee four tournament
1-2 cases of paint @$50, per game x 6 games (give or take)

so...
(($25 x n) + ($40 x n)) x (# of practices)
+
$150 x 3 tournaments
+
2 cases x 6 games x $50 x # of tournies, 3
+
Travel costs....
=
Expensive

And just fill in your numbers accordingly and eventually work out sponsorship with your home field. Free entry is the way to go. And good luck.

How much do your schools pay and how do you make up the difference.

well, in the midwest north division, we pay $425 for an event. that includes entry fee, five cases of paint (additional cases are $50), refs etc. We get paint from our field for $35 a case when we practice.

As for funding, we are partially funded. I believe we got somewhere around $3,600 this year from our school (I wouldn't expect this off the bat though, our school likes our team). We also charge dues for anyone who wants to play, this year we charged $250 a person, with $50 of that going to your jersey. We didn't do it this year, but we also do fund-raisers.

When EKU went to Tennessee 100 dollars a player covered everything, including the 10 cases of paint, hotel room, travel fees, and food.

also he is speaking about a new program, he might want to look at jersey costs. We are in our third year, and finally tying to get jerseys, you are looking at $850 just for 10, about $1500 for player packs (jersey, pants, and some other misc stuff) either way good luck

If he's just starting, jersey's should be the last thing on the agenda. Just buy some long sleeve t-shirts with your school name/logo on it, and voila, you have sexified your team for much less money.

lol @ a team completely vanishing in a year. I'd be very surprised if the field owner didn't have some way to contact somebody involved with the old team.

A season of Class A will cost ~$40,000 (including everything paintball related). We've run the numbers. Several times.

HA, and that's the cheapest you're EVER going to play competitive paintball. Ain't that the best.
