D4 PSP 5man (Race 2) allows one (1) D3 ranked player. Always has.
The grand prize is a D4 5man entry? Any team winning that would face teams in the PSP with a D3 drop-in.
Good luck to everyone! We're looking forward to finally getting to play an event without driving 6+ hrs!

Hopefully all these teams coming to 5mans is a sign of things to come! Time to get the tournament scene back to what it was like 8 yrs ago when you could pick and choose what local events you went to every other weekend lol.

I would argue that the high number of events 8 years ago was precisely what killed the local tournament scene. No one wants to play events with low team counts, lame prizes, and bad refs. Unfortunately, there are not/were not enough serious players to have 30 large, well-run events a year. The market got so diluted that no event could achieve enough critical mass to make it work. Imagine what national events would be like if there were 10 leagues. You'd have a dozen teams at each event, the vendors and their associate support/fanfare would be gone, and there would be so few spectators that the "scene" would be non-existent. Lamo.

i get that, just thought they didnt allow that as this isnt quite the same as psp, had we known that we would have found a d3, but its a bit late now..
edit: if you are going to change series rules now, you might as well make it race 2, thatd be awesome.. just sayin

as far as rules being changed talk to mark, his cel is listed. I know they dont want to change things mid season but are completely open to what the players want for 2013 rules.
as far as what killed paintball....I was there front and center and watched this all happen. I played my first tournament in 2001 and played several every year afterward. We did the polar bear circuit, Nlpl, and pretty much every stalker event. The psp national circuit became popular with xball and we did 2005 chicago. When teams started only being able to go get shat on in national events and not be able to afford the local events, yes numbers got low and every field kept barely running a tournament. The economy was also taking a dump and people played much less. without teams, some fields stopped having events, some went bankrupt. without a local scene I think less people were interested and available to experience it. Of the 20 some people i had the opportunity to call a teamate, most quit playing for money reasons, or going to college. In all many factors killed it but hey Lets bring it back!

having been to several psps, I have no interest in playing one anymore. I go and help friends pit and save a ton of money but still get to go. I dont blame someone for the thrill of going and playing it but it just doesnt appeal after going and doing it a few times. If you go and keep placing and moving on thats living the dream and i encourage that type of experience!
On a side-note: Come and scrimage us tomorrow on the new layout! starts at 1pm

Thanks to everyone coming out today! We got lucky and didnt have much rain. I think most teams left the few smiling and had a good day of highly competitive paintball. A few teams were saying some of the reffing was bad and others saying it was awesome and everything was top notch so we can only get better from now. Join us for patriot #4 on September 15th.
