2009 Format Updates
PSP Events, Inc is pleased to announce the changes made to our formats for the 2009 tournament season.
These changes were brought about after many hours of discussion by our experienced owners group, our expert staff, industry leaders from outside of our group, and players from several respected teams.

The following changes are made with the intent to help teams compete in our tournament series despite the uncertain economic future faced by our industry and our society as a whole.

Our hope is that with these changes, teams and sponsors will recognize a significant savings in costs associated with competing at the highest level of tournament play, while not sacrificing the competitive integrity of our tournament series.

Expect a newly revised rule book to come in the middle of January. This rule book will be available for download at www.pspevents.com as soon as it is completed.

I think the drop in ROF is a good thing. It will make the game more fun to watch and more fun to play.

I wonder how much lay outs will change. There is now going to be significantly less paint in the air. I imagine that fields may be a bit more open to compensate.

Damn the speeds are getting slower , So why buy all the new super fast hoppers, the game is starting to slow back down again.

Now if I could find one of the old revvy shells, the good ones that don't crack after 2 weeks, I would be stoked. I wonder if there will be a trickle-down to the local scene formats.

Edit: Holy **** stick I just saw that the D4 was a race to 2 points! Talk about short games! at least make it a race to 5 or something. I guess they are trying to get away from the concept that if you make a mistake in x-ball you can bounce back the next point.

the slower speed is going to suck for back players. how are you going to be able to hold someone in their bunker. its going to be pretty interesting. soon we will be down to pump guns and gravity feeds. awsome

Thats how D4 was before. Best 2 out of 3, so no real change there.

Yea I would like to see it around 12 or so. Like I stated earlier saving money on paint because we're shooting less is a plus. But at the same time with these speeds I'll stick with my Ion and not worry about getting that Ego that I've been wanting to get. I guess I'll have to wait and see if my team(if it gets going as planned) actually wants to get as serious as I do, then I might buy one. But with 10 bps my Ion will do fine.

I guess we'll wait and see

LOL, you know, paintball did exist before guns could toss 20 bps ropes. People will adjust and the world will not end.

Indeed, but PSP rules are going to trickle down to local events. The changes that the PSP makes will probably affect the MPC and will definitely affect the Xball light down at BGP. Although many of us don't play PSP, we do have an interest in following the changes...

Of course, lots of people just like to complain about ****. The whining in the news section is hillarious. You'd think the world was ending from the way people are complaining.
