1. Get APPA Number:
http://www.thecfoa.com/appa_newplayer_pbc.asp

2. Purchase ID cards:
http://www.thecfoa.com/appa_buycard.asp

The ID Cards are good for all season.

Advice: Practice, practice, practice and find a local field you can play against people that are better than you. You might get smashed at first, but it will make you better! Also the more help you have at tournaments as in friends, parents or sponsors... the more you can just focus on playing.

Good luck! We had a ball last year.

To do well in the CFOA, you must first realize that Dynasty and Ollie Wang are over-rated.

But anyways, go out there and have fun. Sure you just paid a ridiculous amount of money to play paintball, but its worth it. Just go out there and play your hearts out. If you get smashed or have a bad day, so be it. Figure out what you did wrong and work your ***** off to fix it. That's what we do. Sure, all we're playing is PBC 3-Man, but its the same concept. Our first and second events we did great. Both 1st place(ended up with second because of excessive celebration/unsportsmanlike conduct) but this past event, we got our ***** handed to us. Now, we're going to practice, practice, practice. Against and with these teams. See if they can teach us something, and we can teach them something.

Sorry for beginning a speech.

Dont think that being good at cheating means being good at paintball.

Glad to hear your team is going to join the CFOA series. It is a great series to play. The owner, Larry Motes and his staff are great. They will answer any questions you may have during the day. Great group.

Like the guy above me said, get your ID online. Then you pick it up at the first event you attend. During the morning of the event, you will hear someone on a loud speaker announcing where to pick up your ID or get one if you didn't do it online.

Familiarize yourself with thecfoa.com web site for the rules and the deadline to register and pay for your team. The Sunday at midnight before the event is the deadline for payment.

Now that you have your ID's pre-purchased and your team registered and paid, you think about game day.

The field layouts and game schedules can be found here or on thecfoa.com about 3 days before the event. Find it and print it out.

For the event:
Don't forget to pack your tent and plenty of water or Gatordade during the hot months.

You can bring your tent to the field the evening before or the morning of the event. There will be an area to put your tent, tables, and or chairs. There will be a separate area for the vendors.

Chrono and PAC time your gun before the first game at the field. Again, read the rules of the series.

There will usually be 4 fields set up with 2 separate set ups. You will most likely play at least 1 game on each field. However, you only have to learn 2 field set ups.

You will play 6 games and depending on the amount of teams, a certain amount of teams will advance to semis, quarters, etc...

You may have anywhere from 15 minutes between games to 45 minutes. The fields run ahead of the posted schedule you found online before the event. You can also get a schedule at the event.

Again, this is a great series. It is run top-notch. The reffing is run very consistent with zero tolerance.

Bring your parents and friends. They will enjoy it too. It's a great environment.

Practice. Tell your team to practice. If you're the best then theres no need to cheat. The most important thing I found out last year was how bad the money situation can get. Get all money early and never offer to buy anything up front and be paid back. Get paint money ahead of time. I don't know how many times I've gone to an event and had a teammate say he's only got half of his paint money. Look ahead, gas, food, hotel, gatorades( gotta stay hydrated), and some emergency money ie: extra paint, batteries, parts,..... bail, and divide evenly.
