im partial to a tippy. but if you had to go with a spyder, probably a spyder extra or standard model, stay aaway from the other ones like the shutter. inferior add-ons. pirhanas are okay...but hey, im still a tippy guy.

id make sure to get a good mask with that gun. designate $50 of that for a GOOD mask. no crappy BE Z-Leader ones or JT Alpha-2Ks that are too small for a mouse!

other than that, go to a pro shop and try some guns out. see how you like it. see what feels nice.

IMO with 300$ I would get

TippMan Model 98 Custom
Jt Flex 7 Mask
AfterMarket Barrel for the Custom
Regular Hopper
Squigie

All that should come to about 300$, and for someone new to the sport its a great setup.

My first gun was a tippman, it honestly never broke, EVER. It is more realiable then any gun i own, or probably will ever own.

Good luck with your decsion.

How are the xtra's i really like the way they look and i have seen TONS of good reviews on it... on warpig.com some guy used a xtra at a screnio game and he marked many cockers...and other high ends guns. He got many complimetes. Probably it was just his skill....

My friend has a spyder TL Plus and its pretty good, and why spend 50 on a mask, i spent 20 and mine works just as good as the others, what the others say about the tippmann 98 is right, they are really durable and reliable and for a first gun they are awesome

I'd suggest the Tippmann as well...

Heres a good setup for roughly $300

Tippmann 98 Custom: $125
Lapco Bigshot or Custom Products one piece barrel: $50
Dropforward:$20-30
CO2 tank: $20-$40
Mask: $30
Pack(extreme rage is a good one)w/ tubes: $30-40
Squeegee, tools, plug(many placed include these with the gun):$15

IMO get
a spyder with a drop foward TL extra or whatever
mask with thermo lens
20 oz tank

My reasoning is starting with a Spyder with drop is it is an easier switch to a tourny level marker if you decide to go that route later on. Tipmans are good beginer markers but to long for me. Anyway enjoy your first marker and have fun.

RSX
im sayin spyder compact $90 to $110 depends on bottomlin or not
New barrel like custom products 1 piece, jj ceramic, & bigshot $50
JT spectra thermal $40-50
12oz $20(i think)
normal hopper $5-10
Foregrip (not x chamber waste of $) $20-50
Now if u get everything cheap
Get a pack well itll be cheap but ur new so it dont matter

hope i helped

I'm gonna go with the crowd and say either a Spyder or a Tippmann. You have to decide which you like better though. Tippmanns have less maintanance and are basically work horses. But I personally don't like 'em because they're too damn long. I like Spyders myself. They're reliable too but you have to oil and lube it more often than the Tippy. But Spyders are definitely more compact and more upgradable. And if you do go with a Spyder, get a TL+ or an Xtra. Those are both very nice guns without the useless bells and whistles. Good luck and have fun!

Hope that helped.

Ok in that case go look at the automag packages over at pbgear.com You can get a power feed automag, with progessive barrel and bottom line for that price, and the automag is super reliable, best in customer service, and simple enough for a beginner gun.

Gun

Why not a used Autococker for $250 plus 9 volt hopper for $50? If not, save up for another $50 and get a new 2000 cocker. They are actually better then pre-1999 cocker with all the extras. You may end up spending alot of money just upgrading and moving on to better guns in the future if you are SERIOUS about playing if you end up buying a "budget" marker. Otherwise get guns that everyone else you play with has, that way you can ask them how to fix you gun and anwer any question you may have.

For $300 for the gun only, you're basically looking at a high-end semi (e.g. mag or cocker). Before you decide to spend $300 on just the gun, you must realize that cockers and mags work best on nitro. They will work with CO2, but if I was going to spend that much money on a gun, I'd prefer to use nitro, just to get all that I could out of the gun. Obviously, a nitro tank costs considerably more than a CO2 tank. I don't know if you already have a tank that you can use, but this might affect your decision. Basically, if you start with a $125 gun, $250 will get you everything you need (gas, mask, barrel, etc.), but if you start with a $300 gun, you could end up spending double that by the time you're done. Of course, you can spend any amount of money on accessories, no matter what gun you start with.

Anyway...

Basically, if your just starting out, I would suggest a Tippy, even if you do have $300 to spend. You can get quite a few cool accessories for the Model 98 with what's left over from your $300 (RT, Flatline, double trigger, drop forward, revvy...whatever your heart desires). If you already have everything you need, and just want a new gun, then go ahead and get a mag or a cocker.

Hope I've helped.

Ambutter said it right but if you go with the Tippmann, stay away from the flatline, I played with one for a day and it has a little more range but accuraccy isn't great and it's as big as a rifle, hard to fit in back bunkers much less front. But the Tippmann would be a good chioce and hey you could run it on nitro if you really wanted too.

Oh hell, for 250 you can get a Good condition Tippmann F/A (note, it's full auto, but also can be switched to semi!).

Trust me, you'll love this decision.

However, a decent pump couldn't steer you wrong, either!

Jizi u were asking about spyder xtra's, my friend has 1 and they do look cool, but the blowback is extremely bad on it. I would have to say go with a Tippmann, but if u do, don't get a flatline. I personaly think they suck azz. The range is improved but the balls float and don't move very fast, well my friends didn't.
