To preface this, I'm almost exclusively a scenario guy, so all mods are built around what works best for that. For instance, I have an old tendon injury in my right wrist that simply DOES NOT get along with 45/1911 style frames (on full-size, shouldered markers. Pistols I'm fine with because I don't have to shoulder them). So I decided to build this bad-boy as ergonomically perfect for me as I possibly could.

It started with an ANS 90-degree frame.


Now, the problem I had with this was, it's a double trigger frame. Sorry, I can't stand the feel of double triggers and the way they make me have to hold the gun also puts strain on my wrist. To add to that, the back of the frame is lengthened to match ANS' hideous bodies, it is too long for a standard length body and sticks out. As the final straw, the "hump" on the back of the grip was WAY too big (I'm 6'1", 215 lbs. I'm a big dude.) to fit comfortably in my hand.

So, on the mill it went, and it came out looking like this:



I cut off the trigger frame, milled pockets on the underside of where it had been, and used those to allow my new custom-fabbed trigger guard to sit nice and flush. The trigger is simply an SP1 trigger with the upper "horn" cut off of it- other than that horn, it is dimensionally identical to an Ion trigger so far as the pin and magnetic return go. The guard is bolted on through a countersunk 1/4-20 bolt that can only be accessed by removing the body- externally there is no indication of how the guard is attached.

I also shaved the rear upper part of the frame to match the Lapco body, and removed a lot of meat from the 'hump' on the back of the grip. The frame is now exceptionally comfortable to hold, sort of a cross between a Dye UL frame and an RPG Chimera frame. The near-vertical angle keeps my wrist bent at less of an angle while it's shouldered, so by the end of an 8 hour game my wrist isn't screaming at me.

Yeah for my '76 c10. It sounds amazing now with new cam/semi build and dual flowmasters. I can't imagine how awesome it'll be after a decent set of headers. Love the thing. What're you driving? Course I don't wanna clutter the ion pic thread lol.

Honeslty i love muscle cars and v8's but im an import fan lol, My honda had headers, full exhaust, cold air intake, little stuff like that but sadly it never made it back from new orleans from when i lived there. But my sister drives a 71 c-10 with a built 350.
Im very interested in spring modding for the ion though, ive always like the ide of the spring modded shockers.
