here is my entry for said rule

During Quarter-Finals through Finals, no one series (best of 3) shall be allowed to end in a tie. If a best of 3 match is tied at the end of 3 games, a 1 on 1 game will be played to determine the winner. If a team refuses to take the field for this 1 on 1 game that team would be disqualified and the next placing team shall be granted the right to play for the place in which the refusing team would have had. The next ranking team will play a best of 3 series, with the winner of that series advancing, or becoming division champions.

In this case, where both Ironmen and Impact refused to play the game (yes, lets not mix words/emotions here, they in essence refused to play a game) that The Hurricanes and Image would then play for 1st and 2nd place. Will this rule ever come in to play? Probably not. Even if it did, its not like the NPPL would stick to it. I mean, they didn't stick to the rulebook for this tournament, why start with a new rule?

I don't care what the Ironmen and Impact say to try and justify what happened. Im telling you as a fan of the Ironmen and a fan of pro paintball that this was disrepectful to the people who look up to you. You, Olliver Lang, claim to try and promote pro paintball that would hopefully lead to its legitimization as a real sport. Real sports have winners and losers.

I was never really a fan of 7 man because its not very exciting to watch. However Im unimpressed that the NPPL allowed this to happen. The whole situation and everyone involved is lame. Boo.

100% bad for Pro Paintball and the NPPL. What a sad day in paintball.

I would also think that Ollie has been around long enough to know that the score card needs to be signed. He should also know how to calmly work to correct his mistake. I also think that everone involved knows that the fans came to see one team win.

would it be fair then to split the first place points at 13 each instead of 26?

Yes. You share first place, you share first place points, which would mean 13 each. Its what SHOULD happen, but its not what WILL happen.

or rather share second place points, since they both forfeited, both teams should have loss the fight for first place.

What they will probably do is add first and second place scores together and then split it. Same with the winnings.

All I can say is WOW. I too sat in the crowd waiting on the 1on1's for almost an hour and was disappointed in the decision, but I respect it. I may not like it and I would have loved to see the 1on1’s take place which would have been a great way to finish the finals. I was more upset at the crowd. People were starting to really trash the place. Hell some one threw a hot dog and hit me with it. Come on so we as fans paid $10 or $15 (depending on how you bought your tickets or free if you played) we were not the ones out there playing for 1st in the pro division. Kemper arena was not to blame but I feel they got stuck with a hell of a mess because the fans started to trash the place. If I lost any respect for anyone it would be all the players in the stands for the way you responded to the decision.

You can clarify all you want, but its the way you told the fans that you guys were splitting the title. "I hear you booing and all, but whatever..." were those your exact words? tell me, how many fans stuck around for the awards ceremony? i could probably count them all with one hand. EVERY pro athelete (sic) will never be who they are because of us fans supporting you and your team. What makes a team play harder and muster up that last ounce of energy to pull the win? the fans cheering, screaming out from their lungs, hoping you get that kill. Sure you get paid top dollars to do the things that you love. but without us fans, no one would know who Oliver Lang is.

you know I dont like smart parts so I have decided not to join the ranks of Dynasty fans but as a result of this I certainly cant be an ironman fan (and as a result of your sponsership cant be a dye fan either) I have sold my dm7 and will not be purchasing a dm8 as planned. even though Bob cant seem to get a team up in the ranks I think I am going to ahve to go with his guns from now on and cheer for some other team (liking jersey authority and the 'canes right now)

Ive been a fan for a long time now but this cannot be justified and i cant abide by you folks any longer...

Im sorry

sad day for paintball and me

I am also drafting a letter to dye explaining this as well

How is this not game fixing?

Seriously. How is this not "two opposing teams conspiring to fix the outcome of any game' as defined in 23.07 (2) in the 2007 NPPL rules.

Isn't that what happened?

Rediculous, like I said in the other thread...this is competitive sports, at a PROFESSIONAL level, this kind of decision under any circumstance was a total joke. Best 2 of 3...in the event of a tie, the two teams will play a 1 on 1 tie-breaker to determine a winner, a traditional, just, and not to mention exciting way to finish a tournament.

With this kind of decision, why have finals in the first place? Sorry Ollie...I love you bro, but I don't think the decision the teams made was the honorable one.

Ollie, you have been my single biggest role model for the past 4 years that I have been playing tournament paintball, I look up to you in every possible way and want nothing more than to be like when I do become a professional player. If someone had told me a week ago that Ollie Lang had agreed to share first place with another team and not bother to play a final game I would have smacked them for being so stupid, but here we are. What happened to that unstopable drive to win? What happened to leave it all on the field? The drive to be the best you can possibly be? Its been replaced with "oh there nice, lets let them ***** out and justt give them first place too" What happened man?
