I've got three years under my belt at MassArt (Boston) and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone pursuing photography unless you only want to do fine art photography. As a state school, it's cheap for MA residents (about $7k per year tuition) and reasonable for New England residents ($12-15k depending on the state).
They are afraid to embrace the digital and business side of photography. However, the professors are awesome (Abelardo Morrell, Barbara Bosworth, Nick Nixon) and are some of the best artists of their genre.
If you want to shoot medium or large format film as fine art and hate digital photography, then MassArt's photo program is perfect for you. Anything else, go elsewhere.
I'm looking to get into more commercial/advertising work, so I'm taking a year off to pursue other ventures, and then I will look into a transfer.
