It looks like a lot of items being sold are from companies that have MAP pricing. If he's undercutting those costs he isn't allowed to advertise the price.
Some other stores run this way, where the customer has to specifically ask for the price. This way, he isn't 'advertising' anything.
This is, of course, assuming he is getting these items from a standard distributor and the manufacturer is aware that he is selling them.
To relate this to paintball, Tippmann has (or had) map pricing set for all their guns. When I was still running a store we weren't allowed to post price signs for anything under a certain dollar amount. Pbgear used to uncut those prices a lot and Tippmann eventually stepped in to change that.
