Pulse'd Halo How To

Parts List...
1. Pulse drive tray.
2. Halo, if you have a complete one great if not you'll need the following parts:
a. Shells, highly recommend Hydrid Suicide Shell's and do not recommend Warrior shells, they do not have as good attention to detail for fit and finish, however just like the stock shells they will work just fine.
b. Complete Halo catch cup, raceway cover, gear drive/motor cover and hardware (4/40 screws, pin that holds the belt driven gear in place and shaft bearings, which the pulse's bearings can be used).
c. Drive shaft and cone, rip or regular, your choice.
d. Halo backplate.

Steps...
First gut the pulse's drive tray...

Now install the drive shaft, gears, belt, motor and catch cup and raceway covers...

Install the board and backplate into one half of the shell, the cut-out to hold the board in place on the top is a pretty tight fit but the board does fit.

Also don't put the bottom of the board into the cut-out in the bottom, this pic explains...

You can see the slight angle to the board. This helps relieve strain on the boards connectors when the catch cup is installed. Also if your using an aftermarket backplate, i.e., Hybrid's, this also makes it so you don't have to depress the button as far to operate the button.
Prep the left shell for the motor reverse button...
Drill a 3/8" hole 1 1/8" from the center of shell and 1 3/4" from the back...

doesn't have to be exact, the important thing is that the button's circuit board clears the catch cup and you leave enough room from the outside of the shell to be able to install the button/circuit board.
Install the motor reverse button, it should be a snug fit.
Next route the RF chip's wiring harness (red, black, white wires) and chip along the leftside shell...

Next, install anti-jam beads and spring, if not already installed and install catch cup into leftside shell...

and route wiring harnesses and speed control board up the right side of the catch cup and tape in place...

Install the right side shell, ensure the speed control board is in the gap b/t the catch cup and shell (not raceway and shell) and the power connector is going through the opening to the battery compartment and the main board is the same as the other side, top of board in notch, bottom of board to the rear of the notch...

Now all that's left is the power connector, you can go 3 routes...
1. Remove the male connector from the Pulse's shell and use it.
2. Go buy, or if your lucky you've hung onto all those useless wall charges for stuff you broke, lost, whatever and you have one that works.
3. Cut the power wires and splice in a 9v battery connector.

There ya go, your done

Oh yeah if you used a rip drive nows a good time to install the rip wheel

If you need any further clarification feel free to ask...
And if you come up with ways of improving the how-to, by all means throw it in here.
BTW, sorry for any blurry pic's it was 2 a.m. when I took these pic's and they looked decent then

this may make me look dumb but i gotta ask this

Is it reversable? like if somehow dxs can make new shells will i be able to put the internals back?

and my off topic question: how do you take the decals out?

Yes, it's completely reversible, although for warranty work it's probably best to buy the pre-made harness that Karma Police 12 is making. That way you don't have to splice up your stock wire harness and when you put it back in your Pulse shell it doesn't look like it's been tampered with too much.

And for the decals, they should be easy to get off with a hair dryer, a flat screwdriver and a little patience. If you're careful they should retain enough glue to stick to the new hopper as well but if not, a little 3M double-sided tape will work just fine.

Sorry to those of you looking for answers, hadn't visited this thread in a couple of days, first, the hot rod will work fine, second, no you don't need the spring in the drive cone IF you do the mod I point out in the Pulse'd halo thread page 5, third yes it works with the stock pulse's wire harness with no cutting and splicing needed however if you want to get a little extra length then Karma Police's harness is a very good idea.

Everything, except the motor and gears (if you use the pulse's gears, you can use either the halo's or the pulse's, however I suggest using the pulse's).
Check out the parts list at the beginning of the thread, if its not listed you don't need it. Hope that helps. Smitty.

hey, guys just to update...when i did this mod i found that it will jam. taking the spring and bead line out will prevent this from happening. also...if you don't want to drill a hole in the shell use the halo's rip drive. i read somewhere that some ppl prefer that anyway. thanks for making this thread solved a a lot of problems.

You can do that but it makes the pulse a lot harder on the paint. But they can work.

Would you be able to use a Empire B internals instead of a Halo's?
