here's the long version:

My buddy has a VL triton he got for christmas about 3 years ago. Never even aired it up before. Yesterday he comes over tearing it down and oil bolt rings etc. Go to fire it and it only shoots maybe 20 feet if that. tear it down and put back together like 4 more times no change. I go to VL.com and check for a manuel. None available for that model. But the do show a breakdown of the gun so I check carefully and it's put together right.

Does anyone know which way to turn to crank it up?

turn clockwise to raise the velocity, but if it's only going 20 feet it's not going to help.

i would be willing to bet you have your bolt in upside down. the air hole needs to face downwards.
