A1- Cut Bolt Mod
This mod is a proven method to save detent life that does not effect performance in any way if done correctly!
WARNING: I am not responsible for your mistakes while trying to do this mod! This walk-through is just to explain how i did it. i take no responsibility for your mistakes whatsoever
Tools Needed:
Marker/pen/pencil
Dremel
Sand paper
Allen key set
Step 1:
Remove exhaust valve plug with appropriate sized allen key and remove eye covers and detents
Step 2:
Point your gun to the floor so that the bolt slides forward, then put your finger in the feed neck and push down on the bolt to hold it in the forward position. Take your Pencil (or marker or whatever your using) and put it in the detent slot and mark where your detents sit (do this on both sides).
Step 3:
Remove your bolt and draw a line from the mark you made for the detent to the tip of the bolt. Take your dremel with the appropriate attachment and dremel the groove, following the line you just drew. Do this for both sides.
(the scratches you see show up in the picture are actually very small and smooth. If your bothered by them, just use a finer grit sand paper)
Step 4: Take the sand paper and sand down any rough edges. This step is very important so you dont cut your detents in half with a sharp edge
Step 5: Assemble everything back together, and go play paintball with your longer lasting detents.

THIS MOD MAY OR MAY NOT WORK WITH THE NEW 3 PIECE EYE COVERS. A COUPLE PEOPLE (including myself) HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE LEFT EYE COVER POPPING OFF WHEN THE BOLT CYCLES. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH THE 1 PIECE EYE COVERS!

A lathe or mill would make it really precise and clean. WDP was allegedly releasing a bolt with detent grooves, but it apparently never panned out.
