On another note, photo editors that just happen to forget to tell you of a picture they want and then try and get mad at you for not having the picture are fun.... Oh wait, no they aren't.

So I took about 20 pics of my shocker.. only to find out something is messed up with my camera.
Its a Nikon CoolPix5000

Anyone know whats wrong with my cam?

Double Edit: Ok well, I got back from my "training." I'll be using a D1H with 24-70mm, I'll get more lenses and **** as I prove myself more capable. Also my pay is $15 a picture. Good? Bad?

Ehh, it's pretty bad pay, but remember it's a campus newspaper. I worked for a DC area women's newspaper (until it folded) and I started at $50 per assignment and was making about $115 per assignment until it went down. Take into account I used my own equipment, had to do really gay events (sometimes literally haha) and never even met the editor. It was weird. We just conversed by phone and e-mail and she sent me the checks in the mail.

Yeah, I had the feeling pay might not be all it should. But like you said it is a student newspaper. And the fact that I get to choose how much I work (we have a list of assignments at the beginning of the week to choose from) is a plus. It gives me time to study (which is why I'm here) and at the same time get some expierence with photojournalism.

I make a minimum of $250 for the assignments I am doing and as ghs said, I have to use my own gear though. I also carry my own insurance and have to pay taxes on it and all of that ****.
