you can easily find an 05 or 06 star frame on ebay.

The difficulty and timeframe will depend on how many new parts you plan on making. For instance the ram housing, valve, valve poppet, the ram itself, etc etc. You can save time by harvesting parts from other guns, but the tricky part is to make them all work together. Usually you'd have to shorten this, shrink the diameter of that, etc.
If you go all from scratch then you wouldn't have to worry about that, although it'd naturally be more complex and intricate to design.

i drew up some setches of the body and used them to decide what i was going to use for an lpr. the body it a mix of an ego and a timmy but with a timmy lpr and front block its way to long but i don't want it to look to much like an ego. if i could put ego internals into a timmy ram sleeve and make a smaller front block hmmmm..... and advice on what to do with that. i can't really hone anything so making a ramsleeve would be tough. anybody know anyone who can hone things.

When ever you design a gun, Always worry about how it works. Never jump on the train of "what you are going to put on it after its done," before its even finished. when people do this it puts the focus on the little stuff,
but if your going off the ego's design, most of that is allredy taken care of,
but worry about features later.
I take it you mist this post Q-unit. Last one on first page.

no i didn't miss it or ignore it. i had to have an idea of the body to get the goal of the internals. That gets the ball rolling. im trying to come up with a shorter ram as we speak but im not sure how to do it. i just completely took apart my ego and i think im going to make the internals similar. its reliable and simple. on thing im working on is shorting up the ram. why does it have to be so long. i think i could make it shorter, have the bolt pin in the front like an ego but shorten up the middle by about 1/2 to 3/4 inches maybe more. If theres something im missing or you have an idea please post. for someone so young i talk with great wisdom. lol. j/k.

I am trying to make it short and light as possible. I have came up with a smaller diameter wise poppit and integrated ram sleeve to save weight. I think i will use clippard qev's off like an ion for the qev's. theyre small and work good. looking to use a marq or ego frame. need help finding the lightest one. im serious about this so any suggestions would be great.
an ego is already a ram-actuated poppit, you're just trying to make a smaller ego?

i'm sure youv'e seen this (or similar):

ego:

there are three sections of the ram piston:

1. ram chamber (air goes in to move the ram back and forth)
2. sealed piston (must be sealed so that air in forward portion of chamber cannot leak out)
3. unsealed piston (allows for connecting pin travel)

each one of these sections must be as long as the required bolt travel (ie. a at least 0.68").

in the current configuration i don't see much room to shorten the design without re-organizing the parts.

You could shorten it if you used an internal o-ring in the ram's housing to seal against the ram (instead of an ego which uses an o-ring on the outside of the ram itself) but that would require some special tools you might not have. Well you could do it otherwise but you'd have to design new surrounding parts to accomidate it...it's all in the organization and layout.

cheapest would be a Star Frame(05 if you can find one) or 06(there are a few left here and there)
dont use an sl74 or a marq frame there integrated into there milling and you would probably need to machine the top of it to flatten it so it could work on your prototype

i just measured my ego out and i figure i can shorten the entire thing by at least 670 thousanths. thats over half and inch so thats good. i should be able to make the ram sleeve a little thinner to save weight. If i use and ego lpr it will still be prettly long. im thinking about using a front block off a timmy but idk. it might make it to awkward/heavy for my taste. Gimme some input or suggestions on what to do with the lpr.

Integrate the ramsleeve into the body.
