So people ask "Why would I pay $70 for that headband when they're selling for $19.99 on actionvillage?" or more likely "zomg this is a ripoff ic an buy nib for 20 bux."
This is because sandana recently brought back the venomwear print and massed produced a pretty ****load of it so they could make a buck. Now these reprints do decrease the value of headbands already in circulation, but are not quite the same thing. When one compares, the difference is actually quite noticeable. Therefore, the "authentic" ones that people have, ie the pre 2k ones, still have considerable value.
Below are all the differences between reprinted vdub and the real deal.
Notice the color difference. The 90's headband is on top, and the reprint below. The reprint is more of an orange/brown, whereas the 90's one is more of a tan. Yes, the 90's one is a bit faded and the reprint is new, but the color of the 90's one is still pretty much how it was nib.
There are differences in the actual print. Look at the skulls and you will be able to tell.
There are also differences in the material used for the headbands, the older one is made of a thicker, tougher, jean type material, whereas the newer is made out of a much thinner, less durable, and silkier material.
The stitching is also slightly different, on the newer ones the stitching is sometimes slightly skewed and farther away from the edge, whereas the older ones are stitched straight and closer to the edge. I know that on this particular reprint the stitching looks fine, but on my green one it's all over the place.
This is probably the most obvious difference when it comes to brown reprints, the tag here is plainly different. The newer is on top, and the older below.
Older headbands have no tags, whereas the newer has two.
Those are the main differences, the overall quality of the reprints is much lower, I've heard many say after they washed theirs, the stitching began to fall apart and fray. The differences between authentic and reprint greens are the same as those between the browns, except the sandana tag on the front of the new and old greens are the same.
This concludes my late night boredom posting, thanks for reading folks.
