I have been looking at getting a new barrel for a while now. In your opninion what would be the best barrel for the price and why. I have been looking at getting a AA or a j&j two piece but I don't know what paint works well in these barrels. What paint does shoot well in these barrels. I have also been looking at big shots. What are your opinions on these barrels. Thanks alot.

A lot of people seem to like the Bigshot. I use a Boomstick but they’re probably a bit overpriced. Not what I’d call a best buy, but it’s damn nice.

Quick question... Your sig says you’re going to get a Freak soon. Sounds like you’ve already made up your mind, eh?

Cheers!

Also I would suggest trying a CP barrel before making any decisions. I hear they work very well when you match up the bore/paint.

I would go with either the AA or the bigshot. if you play front go with the big shot marbs work great in it,the AA is a great berral too but work better in 14inch and up, so if you play mid to back get one of those.

I like my 32* Carbon Fiber very much. I've gone through about 2 cases with Team Colors paint and not 1 break yet. Its at a mid-priced range of $75.

YEAH THAT IS A WASTE. I THINK THE BEST BARREL FOR THE CASH ISIS PROBABLY THE DYE BOOMIE IT IS VERY ACCURATE (WITH THE RIGHT PAINT) I ALSO THINK THE FREAK IS A GOOD BUY... FOR A LITTLE OVER 200 YOU CAN GET THE FRONT THE BACK AND INSERTS THAT FIT EVERY TYPE OF PAINT AVAILABLE SO THERE IS NO BORE RELATED BREAKS. (UNLESS YOU BEND THE INSERT) FREAK OR BOOMIE

freak

the reason i was going to get a freak with one insert was because i didn't have enough money for the full kit. also i don't shoot paint that is like .679 bore. I would only use the 689,687 and 691 sizes. so i could buy those later. that is why i would think of doing that.

I would recommend either Lapco or CP if you are looking for a good barrel with a low price tag. They both shoot great but have different "personalities." At this price point though you can buy two for the price of a boomer or AA and cover a lot wider range of paint sizes.

Barrel

If you like the Freak, but don't have the money go with the AA-Teardrop one piece. They are only like $50-55, and I have one on my cocker and love it.

The teardrops retail for about that, but the AA-Teardrops, also known as the big daddy, retail for about $110, which is just about the same as a starter freak set, without the versatility.

P.S. - Any after-market barrel with a great paint to barrel match will shoot the same as any other with the same match, the only difference is the loudness or quietness because of the porting. For example a lapco bigshot has a small amount of porting and is fairly loud, however all smart parts barrels have extensive porting and are pretty quiet. It's all preference, I chose the Freak because I play a lot of tourns and it was very economical.

Your right JRM, about the Teardrop and Big Daddy clairification, thanks. I knew that, just said the worng thing. I once had a 16" big daddy and a 12" Teardrop and really didn't notice that much of a diference though. It was a late night for me!

As you said before, the paint to barrel match is so critical, and not just knowing that this paint usually works in this barrel. It is usually a good start though, but I have measured some cases of Marbs to be about .693" at the seam.

Oh, I wanted to add to the above post. I have just had really good results with the Tear Drop with most all paint.
